@genecrewbar You are right about that. Elvin was doing that stuff in the fifties. He used to use the so called Bonham triplets alot long before any of the Rock drummers ripped off that lick. RIP Elvin

@ryz1001 R=HI hat L= snare B= bass drum ( ) = both limbs Figures are all in triplet form. This is the only way I can notate this. Hope it helps.

LLB B (RL).. Best I can do without a music notation. Hope this helps. Dont forget accents. I couldnt figure out how to write those in.

@ITJNI more like something gary has been doing for the past 3 decades, and thomas copied, look at all the footage of garys shit with allan holdsworth, its wat thomas does, but much more complicated

@ITJNI @daviddmo what @Paisteguy799 said is true. Thomas is influenced by these guys. Everything that you see these "Gospelchop" drummers do aren't new they all come from guys like Novak,Dave Weckl,Dennis Chambers just to name a few. Yeah different backgrounds but I KNOW Thomas knows his fusion music I mean Thomas did do a album with Christian Scott (epic album BTW you should check it out)

Actually, you are correct - but if you want to get technical, much of it comes from lines of systems and works of Gary Chaffee and Gary Chester. That's a good chunk of it right there. Guys like Vinnie, Jojo Mayer, Chambers..and of course the newer kids like Royster Jr and the gospel chops""

sticking,  technique, and time functioning patterns from the chaffee books are enough to take any drummer pretty far.

Gospel chops ughhh smh lol.....I think the only guys I know that actually know what they're doing and sound unique doing it is Dana Hawkins,Ron Bruner Jr.,Chris Coleman and a few other names I can't add thanks to the youtube character limit lol.
