i dont like this method. but that may be the way some simply wrestle his horse to the ground and sit on him laughing. the way you did it was gentle with minimal stress amd no jerking pulling and the horse was not in pain that i can see she was fearful at the begining and more relaxed toward the end. Good Job and thanks for doing it right
would this work on a VERY rude horse? Im fed up with my mare, ive done everything i can to help her, and nothing is happening. shes very tense as well. please let me know :)
Ok, all you people that are bad mouthing her, go somewhere else! She clearly titled the video "TAPPING Faith." So if you have problems with using the tap, then go elsewhere and keep your opinions to yourself. Go outside and spend time with your horse rather than discing other people because it's pointless and by doing so you come off as having no lives. Thank you, have a good day. :)

You know, the biggest problems horses have are riders who don't know what the hell they're doing. You can pull a horse over on its back all day long, but when you ride and you're sitting crookedly or flopping around in the saddle or hanging on the reins, gee, guess what? The horse will freak out and 'be a bad boy.' How about just learning to ride correctly and make sure your saddle fits?
This horse by no means was a "bad boy". She as actually just a very timid and fearful mare, not naughty or bad by any means. TAPping her greatly calmed her nerves and made it easier for both her and I to work together. I ride many of my horses bareback and have never been told I "flop around in the saddle or hang on the reins". Thank you for your input though.
I think this technique is very good. It shows the horse that we humans are dominant. Also I think its a lot less cruel than high level sports where you can see the riders pulling a lot more than you are on the horses mouth. I don't understand why people have such a big problem with a horse being laid down. I do think that 'Tapping' is an unfortunate name for it though.
I wonder if you are aware that in Sweden you could get arrested for cruelty to animals by tapping- it is considered cruelty to force a horse to lay down like that :( What you think is trust is giving up.
i want to do this so badly with my horse! i've tried everything but it's like he doesn't trust me enough. he always ends up getting away...he just..won't lay down and i want a better relationship with him so this came to mind. any help? :( i want to gain my horse's trust!
I would not use this method to get trust. When your horse trusts you, you can convince him to lay down, one way is to hold a leg up and carefully ask him to lean back untill he bows, and from there gently push him down. Preferably done with a halter. Laying him down when he doesn't trust you won't gain trust. Might make him give up and be easier to handle, but not trust.
this is just pulling on the reins, to get your horse scared, and let you be the 'scary thing' so he let you know you'd win, this is not like a very nice trick, this is just a mean way to lay your horse down.
What a graceful and peaceful way to lay a horse down to achieve something good. I think you did a wonderful job with the TAP and it seemed to do wonders for the mare too. Thanks for sharing!
if u dont mind me asking howd u teach the horse to do that. i am trying to teach my horse to lay down but he doesnt like ropes. id like to find a better method. this one seems good. if u dont mind me asking how do u teach them. thanks
applebottum this isn't a trick. this is for problem horses or it can be used to get a better relationship with your horse. do even know what the TAP is?

Very impressive relationship work with your mare. I see you also setting the wonderful example of proper gear to wear for equine work.
I am very passionate about proper stewardship of God's creatures especially the horse.
