No offense but you're over-complicating things. If you play this song on the B and high E strings, it's much simpler, since you play it at the beginning of the fretboard. If you start out on the 3rd fret of the B-string and then go on to an open high E, it's basically this same song, but it is much easier to learn for beginners.
