Hey mlodybiker, you may use any triggers as stated. You may also buy a canon ST-E2 for the purpose or use an 580EX on board as trigger while the other (430EX) as slave. Remember to set flash power not more than 1 over 8 with speed of 125/200/250.
...the diffuser inside you meant must be referring to the 'dome', as you know that the speedlight is built with light tube inside which will shoot the light straight forward and may not light fully on the silver reflector. The light will distribute evenly to the reflector when you have the 'dome' on and thus increase the power.

what modifiers are you using on the sb800 speedlights? look like diffusers but what brand/model?? they look really interesting and useful

jusst wondering why are u using a diffuser inside of the bigger difusser? does it make a dif to the quality of the light
