It belongs to the Gothic category and not the black metal, etc as Rozz (RIP) is basing his lyrics on the bible. Aside Gothic fashion is more closely aligned to Christianity and not paganism or satanism, but is more the - You will worship God or get a morning star to the face. Still, I expect a lot of people will disagree with me, even if I be right :)
This song is awesome! My hubby and I used to have this CD and when we put it on his Technics stereo in the living room and hit "Super Bass" setting, it would vibrate the pictures on the wall and the pics on the neighbors' walls!
When my hubby and I had this CD (I believe it was The Best of Christian Death featuring Rozz Williams), we would crank this song on our Pioneer stereo system and it would totally piss off the neighbors because of all the bass! :D
If I remember right it's a 1981 demo version from the cleopatra release "the best of christian death featuring rozz williams." I don't have the Deathwish version.
The vocals are fine. If you can't tell the recording equipment was bad then I don't know what to tell you. It sounds like the settings were messed up when it was recorded, but it is Rozz.
The vocals on this track are great, what are you talking about? I haven't heard a version of Romeo's Distress with Rozz on vocals that I didn't like. This is the version from "The Iron Mask", and I think this must have been a few years (after?) OTOP, or perhaps before? I actually am quite liking this cut, he sounds really youthful and spry.
I think I saw them on the same tour, in Hammersmith. All new material, didn't know any of it at the time. This is probably my favourite song by Christian Death, more than Cavity. Interesting video. It's not goth lol, it's post-punk. There never was a 'goth scene' amongst the bands, it was just a fans thing, associating bands together that had nothing in common at all. Shame about the quality of the audio on this vid though. :-(
@HanoverFist247 I knowwwwww 2 years ago I was making fun of all the labeling arguments under the video guess you couldn't tell.... I used to dance to this at goth clubs... and I still love this song :)
Strangely, the video and the music fit so much!
