What upsets me most about this, is that fact that it will only work as is with it's internal pc parts and OS. I really want a portable screen for my home that is wirelessly HDMI linked to my desktop computer, has wacom pen & pressure sensing tech. Why? Because no laptop will ever rival the power you can obtain from a desktop. I'm disabled and an artist- Why is it Cameron can show us this tech in Avatar- and Wacom can come close with a cintaq (unfortunately wired) but no one can do it wirelessly?

I heard a rumor on TV that this thing is going to be nothing more then a glorified eReader like the nook or the kindle. (sp?) Which I could possibly see, because eBook Readers are the only market apple doesn't have some stake in (save for the iPhone's crappy ebooks on the app store.)

Apple owning "iSlate" is to stop everyone else from naming their device "Slate" and a diversionary tactic. I doubt the device will be named iSlate, iPad. It'll definitely have an "i" seeing as it'll be internet capable.

Using Apple's own naming system and the fact that it will be a branch of their consumer computer (Mac) line we can assume it will have a name something like

iMac mini (probably not)

iMac air

iMac touch

If the technology that goes INTO the device is of the same quality of that of the iphone scaled up to be faster and larger I would imagine this thing is going to come in at AT LEAST $1200. I LOVE my iPhone and I think Apple did an amazing job but lets be honest: It would NOT have sold unsubsidized... The 32gb iphone is a technological marvel and priced like one... $700 for a PHONE?!!?

mmm.............. I think it a cool idea but i the device might disappoint to some people because the have been pump with so many rumor and ideas of what it could do. However, no one really knows what it can really do. I feel sorry Apple designer knowing the have such a big shoe to fill, this is probably why they keep pushing back the release date.
