  • I miss the sound of this bike starting up,

I felt it at 101 miles per hour, from the paasenger seat of my boyfriends V65 I knew him for a long time first. Thank God. it was most exhilerating, Extremely fast bike,

    Can You Say PUNCH IT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

She takes off like a jet.

  • doesn't sound perfect, it needs mechanic

  • The knocking at idle is caused by your valves being out of adjustment. Its an easy fix.

  • lol, i have a v45 magna with a dent in the exact same spot on the gas tank

  • i can hear those cam chains,,,thats the only real downfall of the 82's and 83's the oil ports werent made big enough to allow enough oil to cerculate and it caused the cam chains to streach and start to slap

other than that they are awsome bikes

  • Sweet magna. I have an 85 v65 in the garage and I'm looking for inspiration. Did you paint your valve covers and shocks?

Check out the vid I posted of my rigid v45.

  • dont sound good man

  • Looks like ya ahd to change them bars by looking at the what appears to be a dent in the tank...lol...

  • It's a 1983 V65 Magna. The engine block says 1098, and the title states its a V65. V45's have a drum brake on the rear, mine has a disc. Idle was set at about 1000, bringing it up got rid of the knocking. The V65 Magna never came with a round headlight. It's custom. The instrument cluster (as well as the valve covers and a bunch of other parts) have been powder coated black.

  • Nice seat, and useful for the shorter of us as the earlier Magna seems taller than the final generation one. Great sound too.

  • Nice can of SeaFoam tied on the back! Ha!

    It's good stuff!

  • The corbin seat is comfy and great on long hauls. Lowers the seat height an inch or two as well.

  • what's with the round headlight???

  • early magnas had round, later years had square.

  • the v65 never had a round headlight, the v45 did..

  • Correct. All V65 Magnas come stock with a retangular headlight.

  • @chowhound3 That's a 750. One with some serious valve noise. Time for a lashing! Look at the dash. It's a V45

  • @tcp2150 The dash is a V65 dash, the V65 has digital temp and a digital gear indicator.

  • @davenichole i have a stock 81 first year rectangle front headlight they never ever had round

  • can't be a 81. the v45 was first made in 82 and then the v65 was first made in 83

  • That sissybar (aka a KG sliding backrest) is a highly coveted item for owners of the V65 Magna. As for the vid, I've got a spare V65 Magna. I should install my Kerker and terrorize the neighbors when I leave for work at 0615. :-)

  • Nice, but I hate that sissybar

  • I want one but i can't justify spending that for a bike with 52k on it.

  • get a Corbin seat

  • does anyone know how to seperate the turn signal from the stem, to replace the stem.

  • take out screw, pull stem and turn signal apart, too easy

  • You have to unplug the bullet connectors(I think that's what they're called) from inside the headlight housing.

  • dmoy870 back in 83-87 in the Navy I rode a 83 V-45 im 6'3 195 and I was totally comfortable on it, no matter how far I went. I have an 83 V-65 magna now its about the same as I can remember. You can adjust the handle bars in or out up or down for your comfort. I have to say I love both the bikes I "dont" think you will be disapointed at all. Hope you get it. Ride safe and enjoy...

  • So ride the fucking thing, you wanker!

  • take the seat thing off and that handlebar thingy off to then your all set.

  • The backrest stays...So does the GPS mount.

  • i got mine idleing at always 1000 it s smooth but a little tick from valve on front part of motor. Bike is awesome though.

  • I adjusted the idle and the clacking has gone away. Sometimes it's the simplest things. I have another video up, she sounds much better.

  • Sounds mean!

  • got the seafoam on the back..sweet! i don't like the sound of the exhaust too much though..i think the stock sound is better. i have straight pipes on my own.

  • got some seafoam..sweet! i don't like the sound of the exhaust too much though..it sounds better stock. i have straight pipes on my own

  • what is that knocking? is it normal?

  • The bike was cold, it makes that noise at startup, but it goes away within a minute or so. I probably need to adjust the valves, maybe replace the tensioners.

  • In my opinion something is wrong because I got the same bike and even when cold it does not make knocking noise.

  • Thank you for your opinion. Like I said, I probably need to do a valve adjust and replace the cam chain tensioners. It could also be an idle issue, because once it warms up and is at the proper idle, that sound goes away.
