  • My heart breaks every time I hear this version. Sarah had such a magnificent voice, and these lyrics are so rich, so poignant. Sweet melancholy.

  • Sarah Vaughan and Nat King Cole. The two best american voices ever. No matter what they sing!

  • :O Buenisima!

  • She has my vote--oh good GOD--Sarah IS GOD!

  • MY FATHER WAS RIGHT ANITA BAKER DOES SINGS LIKE HER SARAH

  • I'm a huge Eartha Ella etc etc fan, but this is the best version .. Sad indeed.. brilliantly so..

  • One of the saddest songs ever written and to discover Sarah's interpretation is like finding treasure! Why have I never heard it until now, I wonder? Fabulous!

  • I learned this song from this version when I was in college. No matter how many covers are done of it, Sarah's is the version I will always hear. It's the best by far and she was one of the greatest singers of all time.

  • meravigliosa!!!!

  • Altra versione.... fantastica voce....

  • @Navajo241

    Bellissima.

  • oh man why no1 turn me on to her ? she gota great voice.

  • Unbelievably better than the pop version!

  • Excellent arrangement and performance! Gotta love The Vaughan.

  • We (at least I) haven't had any other singer with a

deep and nice voice like hers.

Gilbert's original Alone Again is really a good song but

Sarah makes it a totally different good one.

  • wonderful

  • When did Sarah record this song and in which album did she publish it ? Thanks

  • @ukelelito "Feeling Good" Mainstream album 1972

  • she will always be unique, so beautiful, I love you Sarah!!!

  • Sarah, there will never be another you. What do we do without you.

  • Also always my fave version of this song.

  • She has a deep voice but it works and I don't even care about the 1 dislike because there are 59 others including me another 1 being me which is 60 who do like her and her music.

  • sarah nails this one. it's simply beautiful. thank you for posting this.

  • Merci ♥

  • how beautiful and so sad....

  • This used to be so hard to find. Thank you! She nails it. The original by the composer is in my collection also, but the arrangement really, if you think about it kind of kills (bad choice of words?!) the seriousness of the lyric. This cover is more for the senses. : )

  • Unbelievable. Even though I knew, I had to check who wrote this song. It proves how strong it was by the list of covers: Sarah Vaughan, Esther Philips, Bobby Darin, Donny Osmond, Cass Elliott, Elton John/Pet Shop Boys, Nina Simone. Wow Raymond, you must be a very happy man!!!

    Mikey xx (again)

  • Can you believe that thsi was written by Gilbert O'Sullivan?

    A ruly moving song

    I missed this song too!

  • She never ceases to amaze me.

  • Thank you so much for posting this song. I absolutly love it. I first heard it on The Quiet Storm (D.C.) in 1987 and fell in love with it but was too young to really appreciate it. When I looked for it years later it was nowhere to be found.
