if you take a look at the scene at 0:34 Luis, Stans little girl, snubs Oliver. This was because she was upset at Ollie's treatment of her father in the movies. In the later movies Stan is seen to hit Ollie back thus making his little girl a bit happier.
at 10.13 - That's the guy who was the shop salesman who sold the piano to the wife in 'The Music Box'. I don't know the actors who worked on these films but I recognize him :D
These were shot in the early 1930s, not 1938 as one poster claimed. Absolutely amazing to see. Many of the shots of Stan, Babe and Lois Laurel must have been on the Roach studio lot because the boys are in costume. Wonderful to see these.
@vince1433 That does look a lot like her. The actresses name was Jacquie Lyn. A lot of people mistakenly believe it was actually Stan's daughter who played the little girl, but it wasn't. Lyn was in a number of Hal Roach movies around that time.

The image in the begining of this video it's too clear and sharp to be a 16mm film from 30's. The film emulsion and small lens had not such precision in the 30's to allow a image quality like that for 16mm.
totally delightful! And lovely to see the boys' friendship come through in the candid shots. I believe they were pretty good friends all their working lives and their families were quite close too. I thought the music was nice, too.
i actually have a copy of this on 16mm filmreel. parts of it have sound and some parts have silly music. i might make a videocopy and post it, although i should not out of respect for mister laurel
Thee Grandpappys of physical comedy. I have a special place in my heart for these two. I have always loved all of their movies and shorts, my favorite being "Babes in Toyland" There will never be anything like these two.
You may notice that Stan's daughter Lois is incredibly shy around her Uncle Babe. This was due to her seeing him mistreat her father in so many films. This was the genesis of the ending scene in One Good Turn when Stan retaliates against Ollie. After that, Lois got along very well with him.
After listening to the sound track I'd have to agree, please change it. Where did you find such an annoying piece of music that goes for so long? aaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
Those toys would be worth a fortune now days. The car @ 8:25 is awesome. They obviously made a good deal of money from their work.
Oh this was fantastic DJMChicago, I never saw this one before. Thank you!!! Hey I agree with an earlier comment, the simple sound of a running movie projector as the background music would make this truly perfect.
The owners of the L&H Rights must have lost zillions by not airing the films, after the mid-'60s.
I too have copies of these home films. This uploading would have had better charm if the sound track were simply that of the sound of a running movie projector.
The idea of the sound of a movie projector as the soundtrack for this video is a great idea, and I wish I had thought of that. If I find such a sound file I might post an updated version of this video.
Thanks for your comment. I recently started watching their silent films, both as a duo and the earlier ones when they werre each on their own. They were two of the best ever!
@DJMChicago The plane at 4:03 was a gift from Uncle Babe. The little girl playing with her is Jaquelyn Dufton, who starred alongside Stan and Ollie in Pack Up Your Troubles. She was such a sweetheart.
