It's stupid, if a game's a bad game then how can you force someone to talk to thousands of viewers and say it's a good game. What Eidos should have done is confront I-O Interactive (developers of Kane and Lynch) and said, 'Hey, you gave us a product that wasn't up to scratch and we advertised the hell out of it and now we look bad' and maybe have threatened to not publish Kane and Lynch in the future

Kane and Lynch was a fucking godly game. Jeff was being a complete douchebag. So I don't think the video review being pulled down had anything to do with the rest of this. Not saying that justifies everything else, just that it's probably an unimportant fact.

Games like Metro 2033, NieR Gestalt (or even Alan Wake) are getting from 5 - 8,5 while braindead interactive movies like Final Fantasy XIII, Modern Warfare 2 or FarCry 2 get: 9-10 and "AHAHA-HAHA-HAHA! YEEEEES! BEST GAME EVAAAAAAR!!!" Publishers started to breed generation of braindead consumers. 10-15 more years and true gamers will be on the brink of extinction.
I've realized from inside source for a while now that gamespot infact scores many of their reviews with high influence of the publishes who pay them a lot of money. ex. you will not see a gta game with anything less rating of a 9 or 8.5 at lowest. and we know they usually score GTA 9-10. which is high in todays standards. I know longer look to gamespot for reviews, instead, i look there for new news on games, i go to other sites for reviews, ign i find more honest in their ratings

I hated his review on this game. I thought the game was alright. Not perfect, but still alright! He was bashing it too much. If you are a Hitman fan, I am sure you will enjoy this somewhat.
I think some people are losing sight of the issue. Yes, Kayne and Lynch may be a good game (never played it, though I love Hitman), but should a man have lost his job for voicing his opinion? An opinion that viewers have the right to know. People should be able to see both sides of the spectrum.
After all a review is a review - there are different styles. If you guys think his review was rude/harsh or anything go back to the days of PC Zone - those guys would SHIT all over a game they didn't like :))

Check out noobtoob on youtube and they are 2 independent game reviewers that have done over 150 episodes. They are very honest about games and will say they are shit if they are.

agree. i actually liked kane n lynch. you actually get used to the music , tension and characters. the story lines dark and sad and is very realistic. you wont expect a gun to be accurate when your playing a shooting SIMULATOR.
Simmiliar situation was 1UP giving Assasins Creed a bad review (Reviewed by Garnet Lee) and Ubisoft didnt send them review copies anymore until Garnet had possitive reactions to AC2.
Also James Mielke also of 1UP wrote a review of Gears of War saying that the story sucked,the controls sucked and the multiplayer lagged but was forced to give it a "A" anyway.

Alright whatever, in your opinion it's bad. That game still has a multiplayer component running, and that can't be said for many great games.
Also, it has some things you won't see in any other next gen games.
Fully destructible environments, not just little chips coming off blocks like in gears of war 2(which I consider a bad game my good sir). The destruction stays, so at the end of a fight it will actually look like twenty guys just had a massive firefight with the rubble, bodies, blood.

What happened to freedom of opinion? I mean I loved the game but I can understand if people don't like it, everyone has their own opinion. It's pretty sad they fired him because hereviewed a game giving HIS honest opinion on it, kinda sounds like Hitler all over again.

Yeah, it's a great one. The story is so morbid and depressing, but it was fun none the less. I can't wait for the second one.

Check out noobtoob on youtube and they are 2 independent game reviewers that have done over 150 episodes. They are very honest about games and will say they are shit if they are.

i dont like that reviewer at all. hes givin so many review low scores and he goes as far as giveing a sports game a perfect score. the guy based his scroes of what he likes in games. reviewers need to like all types of gameing but he hated shooters and he evern anounced it once.

what are you talking about? A reviewer doesn't need to LIKE all games, he just needs to be able to review them impartially. That doesn't mean not letting their own tastes into the review-that's what a review is, a personal opinion, right? Jeff gave Kayne and Lynch the score he though it deserved-others might not agree with it but that's unavoidable.

Thats completly wrong. A reviewer can like any type of game he or she wants.The only thing I agree on, is if your a reviewer and your reviewing a shooter but you don't like shooters. Then you shouldn't be reviewing that game. Because If you've hated every other shooter you played, then there is a chance you not going to give that game a good review.

I have never played Kane & Lynch before, but i clicked on the review and he just starts moaning about the game "Its ugly, the characters are annoying" like someone having a rant on a forum.
I think he could worded it better, it doesn't mean he should get fired though.

agree. i actually liked kane n lynch. you actually get used to the music , tension and characters. the story lines dark and sad and is very realistic. you wont expect a gun to be accurate when your playing a shooting SIMULATOR.

Simmiliar situation was 1UP giving Assasins Creed a bad review (Reviewed by Garnet Lee) and Ubisoft didnt send them review copies anymore until Garnet had possitive reactions to AC2.
Also James Mielke also of 1UP wrote a review of Gears of War saying that the story sucked,the controls sucked and the multiplayer lagged but was forced to give it a "A" anyway.

well the thing is grungadin youre missing the bigger picture i mean think aabout the implications if this is 100% true it calls into question gamespots integrity and makes it evident that they souldnt be trusted because they are being lobbied by developers to produce a certain type of review i mean its insane to think that GAME media has fallen to the same vice that has destroyed all other major media outlets

Gerstmann fucked up, and as much as I wish it weren't true, people have been fired from better jobs that they really needed for less. Gerstmann is doing fine, so cry him a river if you want, but he doesn't seem to be unhappy on his new website. You guys speak as if he is no longer around.

Alright whatever, in your opinion it's bad. That game still has a multiplayer component running, and that can't be said for many great games.
Also, it has some things you won't see in any other next gen games.
Fully destructible environments, not just little chips coming off blocks like in gears of war 2(which I consider a bad game my good sir). The destruction stays, so at the end of a fight it will actually look like twenty guys just had a massive firefight with the rubble, bodies, blood.

He was not fired for the review. He's said it, his fellow employees have said it, and GameSpot talked about it in the HotSpot the week after his firing. Anyone who believes anyone could be fired for something like that is retarded.
