I really loved this game.. I didn't understand it.. (i was like 10-12, and english isn't my native language ;) ).. but the music always stuck with me.. it's such an epic theme!
Hey AirConChamp, same goes for you. I am REALLY looking for people interested in doing a bit of online retro/classic gaming. I can't believe with 1 exception, I've had practically NO luck at all :-(
I mean, with all the emulators, ROMs, etc, SOMEBODY is playing them! I can't find ANYBODY who wants to play? WTF? It totally sucks. I grew up with & totally love vintage/classic gaming. I just wish I could find others with likewise interests, who'd be interested in playing online.
can anyone recommend a game as good as this (yes, yes I KNOW nothing compares etc) that I could get on my PC now? I'm after something where I can loose myself for a few weeks at a time - cheers
@deadmanshoe There are quite a few. Do you mean war/strategy? Do you like space age, modern/current, medieval, etc? Empire & Elite are kind of similar to this (Space), Second World & Scenario are cool. Starflight is REAL cool. Actually, I am currently looking for people who are into these types of games, with the intention of playing them (& also other retro/classic/vintage games of many/most genres) online together, via Kaillera Client. Let me know if you think you'd be interested. :-)
Note: This game was released as Overlord here in North America. I know, because I own a copy of the Commodore 64 version and the IBM version, and I gave my brother a copy of the Amiga version in 1992.
Of the three versions, the Commodore 64 version is the best. My favourite part is being able to execute your enemies at the end. The Amiga version only lets you watch without being able to give the order, and the IBM version omits executions completely, showing only text telling you you won.
@AirConChamp Wow, I got the music from a demo, rip it while working on a demo part which never got completed after our 2nd disk demo (Optic Vision). I didn't know the music came from a game! It seem very interesting, thanks for posting it!
Sokkal jobb ennek a játéknak a zenéje mint ami a rádióban szokott lenni.

Does anyone have an NTSC copy of this? It was named Overlord over here.

the song sounded more badass on the IBM version if you had at least an Adlib soundcard

I got this as a kid because Commodore Format gave it something outrageous like 97%, but I was too young to know how to play it properly.
