I don't think some of you get why people like this piano. It's not because it's red (some do like the red), but because Elton John plays it. If Elton John played a piano shaped like a Turd, his fans would like it, and so would I. Although that is sort of gross and exaggerated, but you get my point.

I never got what was that great about that piano. I think it's ugly as hell. Give me a fine varnished wood any day. Deep reg mahogany, now that's nice. That thing looks like an over sized fisher-price starter.

@aacs4 Well I its a replica of what he plays in vegas except this is Grand and i think the one in vegas is a concert grand there will only be 50 made all hand autographed and from what i heard all the money goes to the Elton John AIDS fonadation Not to mention only 50 hand autographed it is an investment im sure it will only go up in value not to mention i havn't even found a price for what one sold for online yet its not a color for everyones house but contemporary white/black hardwood floors

Can anyone explain how this is different from listening to a radio or cd recording?

These piano's have speakers along with an inbuilt system which plays the actual piano. So what you are hearing here is a recording of Elton, along with that piano playing the music. I think you know how this is different to just listening to a CD. No CD can ever compare in bitrate (quality) to real life, haha.

The part with Elton John singing is a recording, but the piano parts are all being played live by mechanisms in the piano, played on the real strings. So the piano parts are in fact, real and completely live.

I've been playing piano my whole life and I've never owned a piano... I just wish I had one... Even an upright.  I always have to play on electric ones and they don't even come close... I have a couple videos of me playing on my electric one.

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about... If I could buy a grand, it would probably be a Yamaha... They are relatively inexpensive as far as Grands are concerned and yet they sound tremendous... Sometimes I prefer them over Steinway's anyway... Once they are broken in they play like carmel.

It's such a personal thing, huh? I had a friend that I lived with for a while and she had 2 9' baldwins in her living room. She was a teacher... I liked them a lot, of course, (who wouldn't love a grand piano in general?), but there was always something off for me and how they fit my fingers... Hard to explain, but that's why it's such a personal relationship. ;)

thats icredible! not one, but TWO balwin concert grands in a home! even thought she was a piano teacher, that still amazes me!as far as steinways are concerned, they are nice pianos and all, but who would really one(for their house)? same thing goes for mason & hamlin, they are just too expensive and are kind of a waste of money to buy for a home, especially when you could buy a perfectly good yamaha, kawai or baldwin for half the price?

i dont have enough experience to say wut piano i think is the best as far as touch and tone quality are concerned. i think baldwin have a rich, full tone, as far as i have heard here on youtube, but i havent heard them in real life. id have to compare them to other brands in person. as far as touch, i have absolutely no idea whats the best.

well it really comes down to how much you like playing it. I mean if its just a hobby, then a nice yamaha will do you for life and probably your kids. But if you're like in the Philharmonic and you can't get enough of your Chopin, i don't see why its so bad buying a king of pianos. But yeah for me, an average one like you said would do me good.......until i MAKE THE SYMPHONY! Then i'll step it up a few knotches. Steinway. Bosendorfer. Fazioli. one of those three lol

I've played a carmel and they are really hard to articulate because of the stickiness of the keys.

Try an M & M model because they have a hard coating on the outside that makes playing much easier and cleaner on the hands.

Midi files can't embed wav's so you wouldn't get a vocal 'track' from the midi file... But perhaps you could at least have the way he 'played' it... I'm not sure how the DiskClavier stores data like this...

Amazing, wish you had filmed the full thing tho, i love the impros at the end he does live on this. Ive been waiting for someone to post vids of it for ages, if you have any more they would be appreciated :D
