Lars is the most overrated drummer I've ever seen. Seriously, kids, sorry to ruin your fun, but he's not very good. He plays simple rhythms and plays them fast. Sure, he's clean, but he doesn't ever do anything super interesting or innovative. Look at people like Brann Dailor or Mike Portnoy, they innovate, those are just two examples, and they play beats better and more fluidly than Lars.

so from this point of view...probably u are not wrong....i dont know almost anything after black album, ,(only death magnetic) but sound is shit.... and many songs just dont work to me like a mix of old riffs....because they didnt know how to create new....even the balad copied one structure with parts of fight fire with fire and ride the lightning (the day that never comes) its a well produced mixed up song / son ,(and the lyrics and video awesome)

trust me, death magnetic is waaay better than load, reload and st anger, of those 3 albums two best songs are fuel and unforgiven 2 (in my opinion) and that's it, rest are just crap. death magnetic isn't bad album, but it's not near as good as ride the lightning or kill em all.....it has few great songs but overall it's decent album, i hope that death magnetic is turning point for metallica, and i hope to see some more thrash on next album....
