A good film, if you like climbing films. Up there with Into Thin Air : Death on Everest; (try Anatoli Boukreev's book The Climb, which was excellent). This features a real-life peak. Good settings (Australia, South America). Female interest (who gets the girl?). Sutherland. Twist at the end. Relaxed pace typical of European films, a cut above all the special effects style climbing thrillers. Up there with William Shatner's Baja Motocross, another forgotten gem.
Best moment in the movie is when Sutherland screams, "That's my cigarette!". It really cracked me up when I first saw it. So much so that I instantly rewound and replayed it again and again for added comical effect.
@ant1gone Sì...anche se lui dice che non è stato facile lavorare con Herzog e soprattutto con la produzione...però ne ha anche dei gran bei ricordi...se la cosa ti interessa cerca informazioni su "Fulvio Mariani"... ;)

@neporuk
It's the last couple minutes from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde.
Search for "Liebestod" and you'll find dozens of versions here on youtube.
The one used here is sung by Birgit Nielson and probably from the Bayreuther Festspiele, conducted by Karl Böhm.
