Awesome. They cannot kill this music much as they try.Ervin surely was a genius of major proportions. This is clearly evident here.in this gem of a transcription.
@fledgehog That's right, and I couldn't have actually been making a comment on his "interpretation" either, rather than a literal comment about the piece...
control redefines itself for such pure chaos. I don't know what I'm talking about. this thing blows my mind. My brain is in the garage and it's going to fly away in my car.
Who needs Ultimate Fighting Cage-matches, demolition derby or World's Wildest Police Chases on TV when they can be performed on the keyboard. I love it!
MESMERIZING ....UNIQUE .. I felt "everything" was expressed (on a keyboard too) till the death of Isolde, then starting at 4:20 an uncredible ultimate move (sursaut) till 4:30 with an haunting cosmical desintegration chord at 4:29..... something to do with our soul .. not even with feelings nor spirit we can feel proud and moved of being human... thanks to Erwin and to jero 13595 for this unique experience
may be you've read about Cortot saying that Music is Opium and about Schnabel that after listening to Rachmaninov all other pianists sounded like klöstermädchen... to give echo to kaleidoscopio i would say that EN does not play the piano he performs musi
yes he crashes into the piano but he does not break it and he does not hurt himself!!!! So it is not crazy but getting out of the piano the maximum possible.... And thats genious, only Horowitz did go to these extreme too : see and hear the Vers la Flamme Horowitz recorded at his home. You will find a lot similarities....
this is like a drug:u know is wrong,u know u must not listen, but it is too atractive, too fatally atractive that u can´t resist.

Nyiregyhazi had it ready in his head... like Mozart. he just let it through his fingers. no sweat needed in forming the piece.

The older Liszt looks slightly perplexed at the playing at 4:20 no as if to say 'good ... err ... and now a tad slower.'

can imagine living next door to this pianist? and, come to think of it, now I know who Les Dawson's piano teacher was.

@newgeorge ...I thought he didn't own a piano for 40 years or so, ...living in subways, etc., etc.

Is this an improvisation?

Is this an improvisation?
gojewla 1 year ago
@gojewla yes it is. "Wagner-Liszt" isn't the name of the composer, it's actually part of the designated title for the improvised piece.

I feel this piano has been intentionally detuned for this performance.
