@blueriser Some won't eject and some models don't have the access hole. You may need to remove the drive, remove the disc, then reset the drive gears.
super cool thanks for the vid. i never knew about these manual ejects. i came home after a night shift and either my 2 year old son or my technologically inadequate mother got two discs stuck in it lol lol i first tried it, didnt work, a little frustrated, came back to it , turned it clockwise held the machine with the disc slot facing down and voila , 2 friggin discs appear !! lord tunderin, after itook discs out, turned it on and got a third disc out lol
@KCpanda816 Probably need to remove the PS3 cover and remove the drive to get the disc out. Then reset any jammed drive gears. Probably nothing broken.
I have a very new PS3 slim its bout a week old and my skyrim disk wont eject or read and the eject button does nothing once pressed. should i do this? will it screw up my ps3? will my ps3 still read disks when its taken out this way? PLEASE HELP!!!
@MsGokussj2 If you don't have external access to the ejection mechanism, you'll need to take the cover off the PS3, remove the drive, take the covers off the drive and remove the disc.
@Bcloribel Sorry, some models don't have that hole. You'll need to take the cover off and find the eject mechanism at the front left bottom of the drive.
@MrDelta01 The drive gears probably just need to be reset. There is a swing arm on the right side of the drive that often gets jammed... but not broken.
@fixmyplaystation I tried what you did on your video, un-screwing the blue color screw but the disk didnt come out, I had to insert another disk to have the one already inside to eject.
@MsGokussj2 We received a 2001A model Slim PS3 yesterday that does not have the ejector gear. You might have the same model. If so, you'll need to remove the PS3's cover and disc drive in order to get the disc out. Look on the bottom front of the drive for a white sticker with a star shaped slit cut in it. That's where you can insert the screwdriver.
@iwuhvbuubees You can replace the old thermal compound between the heat sink and the 2 processors on the motherboard. This can increase the heat sink's efficiency and reduce overheating.
MY COPY OF SOCOM 4 SOME WHO GOT STUCK IN MY PS3 I DO NOT WHO THAT HAPPENED AT ALL. IT WAS WORKING FOR ME BEFORE NOW IT IS NOT. I HAVE A PS3 SLIM BUT MY PS3 HAS A 160 GB HDD.
mine won't read, then stays in my system i meant to say, srry, also it sounds like its ejecting itself while its still in the system ... help me out please!
@Bonelessgeko If you hear the "ka-chunk!" sound from your Slim PS3 drive, either the laser is in need of cleaning or it's dead. Replacing the laser is the worst case, and that's no big deal. The Ka-Chunk sound is the drive attempting to fix a possible jamming... but it's actually a dead laser causing the disc read error.
@Bonelessgeko If you clean the 2 outer lenses on the Slim PS3 (450 model) laser and there is no improvement in disc play, the back cover of the laser can be removed (it's glued in place at the corners) and all internal lenses and prisms can be cleaned with a dry cotton swab. Check YouTube for videos from others re: how to open a Slim PS3.
@Bonelessgeko Ejects by itself... might have a foreign object in there. The last Slim PS3 we had like that (2 weeks ago) had a cardboard poker chip inside.
@SuperSmurfz The fat drives must be opened in order to remove stuck discs. Unless you have YLOD in a PS3 with 2 USB ports. Then try holding the EJECT button while turning the power switch on in the back. Those models have auto-eject built in.
u r an awesome lifesaver my ps3 eject and power buttons stopped working and my ps3 wouldnt turn on and i got the disk out and put it back in and it started my ps3!!!!!!!! thanks again man!!!!!
@MrJJ235 you might need to take the cover off, remove the power supply, remove the disc drive and open it to get your disc out. Slim PS3 disc drives are different than old PS3 drives, but not too difficult to figure out. We'll have a video soon.
