What a fine video. I would love to wean myself off meat again. However, I am afraid of eating tofu again. I ate tofu for a good deal of time and ate way too much of tofu on a daily basis and really messed up my system. Do you find planning means and getting all your necessary nutrients difficult?

There are plenty of non soy sources of vegan protein, and no I haven't had any issues getting my nutrients..although I sometimes eat a diet that I think is a bit too low carb, which I am addressing now by making sure I get some rice and bread back into my diet. Re human rights: I work in community services and I am deeply committed to the protection of disadvantaged people. I do not in any way see the two movements as in conflict, I actually see a lot of gains for human rights in veganism. A lot of animal exploitation industries (particularly overseas, one example is Indian leather workers who are exposed to carcinogens etc) are extremely uncaring towards their workers and force them to work in dangerous environments.

Great Video! I left my recorder at my summer place but plan to make a video - I have been Vegan for one month and very satisfied with my diet and just a happier person. Some people just don't understand, but that doesn't make them a bad person. If someone told me I would be vegan in my lifetime I would think that they were nuts. A lot of people do that to their sons on purpose. In fact in some European countries (i could be mistaken but I think mostly Eastern European) it is a rite of passage to manhood to make a young boy kill a pig :-(

Have you ever worked somewhere that had a public restroom? I have, & once every so often, we'd find some poopie left on or beside the toilet, or even smeared on the wall.

Why do people do things like that? Who cares? Just avoid it! You know what I mean?

Realize also that some are simply trolls, and its likely that the comments you read were not even from people concerned about animal rights.

I just want to say that I am not perfect, and I have left some comments that I regretted later. I always cringe when I get responses to certain comments I've made. I think "Oh shit, I really should not have said that. Someone's about to call me out on it!"

So when I say things like the above, I am speaking about myself as well. I think we all react irrationally sometimes.

By the way... that poor guy who had to kill his pig after his father forced him to... So sad. If somebody tried to force me to kill one of my babies, I'd kill myself... I just oculdn't hurt them. But at the age of 12? OMG, just imagine the trauma... Bless his heart. Proud of him for turning the other way.

I know...it really hurt him...really fucked him up. And then for how ever many years his job was to kill these animals that he loved so much. It made him a violent alcoholic and was a complete mess. Then all this guy did was allow him to talk about how he felt and at the end the pig farmer guy was like "But there is nothing else I know how to do" and the dude said "Well you could grow broccoli" and he smiled. A year later he wrote to his friend and told him he was now doing just that :-)

Isn't it funny how the only people who attack the way someone looks are the people who won't show their own face?

I once did a video about obesity. Then this "no-face" started calling me fat and ugly. I later on was able to talk to her and become friends with her and she admitted that she herself is morbidly obese and she also thinks she is ugly.  I wasn't surprised. Only someone who hates the way they look would say things like that.

I've always loved animals... even when I was 7 I remember refusing bacon rolls from my farmer parents. I grew up on meat, but I always knew it was wrong. I went vegetarian when I was 7. Lasted for about four months until parents managed to get me to eat it again else they wouldn't feed me. Went vegetarian again at 9, stopped after about a year, and then finally stuck as one when I was 12. I had no idea about how destructive the dairy industry was until I was 14; then I went vegan.

Some people are so full of anger and hatred. It's a shame that they do that and I pity them for allowing themselves to be so consumed with a negative emotion, but I'm glad that you've dealt with their comments in a positive way. I know, isn't he!! There are a lot of people like that, in fact some people move into animal agriculture because they love being around animals and think there is no other way to be around them. Some of these people end up going vegan and running animal sanctuaries because they realise just how cruel the industry is :-)

Now I don't see anything wrong with eating meat now and then but I do think it is wrong what they said to you. I have a friend who is vegan but I myself don't completely agree with the vegan ideal, but I do respect other peoples decisions.
