  • nice guitar and that was fuckin rad. bet u wud have been in the top three if u hadnt improvised most of it. it seemed improvised just cuz it didnt seem like you had a main theme that you came back to over the course of it. that was awesoome tho. 5 stars

  • thank you a7xrocker25 ! actually it was "written"...i actually came back to the beginning part at 1:40...

  • burstbuckers??

  • hi AndiiTheStratophonic ! yes, they are burstbuckers....i LOVE the way this guitar sounds..

  • Once again great! I hope you make money doing this or else I'm screwed.

  • thank much CityLights2009 ! actually i dont receive a dime for my playing, lol...and that ok...YouTube is my creative outlet. i just love coming up with stuff over backing tracks and seeing the results...its very satisfying even though i dont make money at it...

  • If they could bottle inspiration and sell it, it would have to be called Dave, or I aint buying it! This was phenomenal, and the note at 1:00 sent shivers down my spine 3 times in a row. Yes, I went back 3 times just to listen to it repeatedly. Succesful shivers over and over, and thats cause I just cant get enough of Daves playing. Im being serious here now, This guy needs to be titled the best player on youtube. If you dont think so, your opinion shall be duely noted, but This is how it is!!!!

  • Thanks very much mysteryloser24 ! 3 times? wow...thats flattering indeed! i hear some of my favorite players hit notes like that and i get the same reaction. Johm Petrucci in particular hits notes that way...sliding into them...very cool effect/tone...glad you enjoyed it!

  • Your very much welcome Dave :) Your playing is sheer inspiration for me. Everytime I listen to one of your videos, I can't help but close my eyes and relax, thinking of a day when I might somehow equal up to your amazing level of skill, talent and flawless tonal variety. Simply marvelous!

  • How much did you pay for your '59?

and is it worth buying brand new for almost $6000?

  • Hi Alu122112211221 ! i got this guitar 10 years ago on Ebay for $3400...at the time i had it appraised by Mandolin Bros. in NYC...they siad they would have sold it for $5800...that was 10 years ago. i guess its gone up. its worth buying if YOU think it is...perhaps you could get one second hand but i imagine they are all pretty expensive. its up to you.

  • hi dave, mark here in the uk, iv commented on your stuff once beore, its 3.33am here, and your a constant source of inspiration,,,again!! thanks for making me keep going, regards mark

  • thanks very much Mark! i really appreicate it! i noticed in your favs you had a Camel clip...someone recently said i remind them of Andy Latimer..i had never heard Camel until a few days ago...my god! he is incredible! such feel and melody! i have a new favorite band...thanks again for your kind comments, they keep me rocking! 3:33? get to bed will ya? lol...

  • fuck great job brother!!!!! what strings do you use???? and amp??? fucking loev your stuff it hits me cheers

  • thanks very much renagade12 ! i use D'Addario XL's guage 10-46...they are awesome! my rig is a Digitech 2120 processor powered by a 50 watt Mesa Boogie stereo power amp through 2 Marshall 4x12's in stereo...i use V-Picks guitar picks (the small pointed Lite model...the BEST picks in the world!)

look them up at v-picks period com

  • thanks so much guitar15243 ! i use D'Addario XL's gauge 10-46.....they rule!

  • Jesus, That was Magical, Purely Amazing. when you hit that note at 1:00, it sent shivers down my spine.

  • thanks very much dazzurxshikari ! the way i slide into it is purely intententional too...alot of my favorite players do it as well..glad you liked it!

  • good stuff.. you've got quite a collection there... and yeah... you play great... simply great..

  • thanks very much bharatbball !

  • sick... as... hell... the lp is a great guitar, but you're playing pushes it and makes it incredible. I agree with andy13, that guitar is all you man=

  • thanks very much Ibanezdisciple ! she fits me like a glove!

  • thank you Andy13deanguitars ! i must say though that i am really enjoying my new strat....

  • I like your tone, and approach. As positive criticism, I have to mention that I think you make too many stops at places where you shouldn't (in my opinion). Make these stops shorter or put them in their place, and it will be flawless then.

  • thank you richaxes ! i only pause because i feel it gives the track room to breath...point taken, thanks for listening!

  • i saw the winers of the contest and i think you should be one of them...great fan...good luck

  • thank you delpaulrock !

  • thank you konfusious2000 !

  • that was sweet dave!!

  • thanks so much Lai!

  • GREAT !!!!!!!!

  • thanks indeed ACDCKissLuki !

  • Hey, great recording... I have a few questions and stuffs about your rig and all

I can see the marshall stack you use and obviously the I know what guitars you have , so what do you use to record, and what pedals do you use?

And another thing.. I seem to be having a small problem.. I seem to be stuck in this loop that I sound the same no matter what style I'm TRYING (emphasize that word) to play. It always sounds the same!! >_> HELP! O_O

  • hi Watsupo ! well, to start off, my amp is a Digitech 2120 processor powered by a 50

watt Mesa Boogie stereo power amp...it goes through 2 Marshall 4x12's in stereo...the effects are bulit into the Digitech....to record my clips i play the backing track over my PC's speakers (i have 5.1 surround with a sub woofer). i play the track kind of loud in the room and record with my Sony Digital Hi8 camcorder...then i download the clip to my PC and edit it using Windows Movie Maker....thats it!

  • oh, dang.. The camcorder has a good microphone then :) 'cause it's a great recording.

And how can I get out of a loop of no matter what.. I always sound like some wannabe rocker.. I have a god awful sound. It sounds really cheesy (to my ears.. once i have something decent to record with, I'll send you a recording.. actually I have a few recordings here that I did a while back for my exams, so I might stick those up)

  • yeah, its pretty good...having the backing track sound good helps too....

yes, please post some stuff, i'd like to hear it!

  • I think you would sound amazing with a different sound, this on an ibanez run through a few other things would sound perfect

  • hi jmanh93 ! i can say with almost certainty that i would sound the same....it dosen't seem to matter if i play my les pauls, my jackson, or my new strat....it always sounds the same to me...

  • thanks very much UfoPlay !

  • i'd love to be on the radio! thank you so much...i'm glad you enjoy it!

  • thank very much metalmarkholland!

  • Great stuff man. Very tasteful solo and great technique. That tone is amazing too!

  • thank you Adji87 ! this guitars tone just kills me...

  • OK. I have to say this. I have listened to a lot of your music. I feel you should do a Comfortably Numb like improv. Like what you did with Shine On You Crazy Diamond. You are awesome and I would love to here that. Also great job on this solo.

Greetings from buenos aires , Argentina.

  • thanks very much sadbluesman !

    hello Argentina!

  • The backing track overlapped the solo a little to much; it didn't seem to be the perfect fit, but the solo is godly. It almost made me cry.

  • thank you !

  • cool man!!! 5*****

  • thank you xkeisuke1448x!

  • Smooth as usual Alien, But then why would I expect anything less? Do you notice a big tonal difference between your LP your playing there, and your LP Custom in the background? It has a Ebony FB right? I figure it would be a bit brighter. Awesome work keep it up!!!

  • thanks indeed axcellgrease ! yes, ebony fingerboard...the re-issue is a little 'warmer' although they both sound similar...

  • wow that's really great! I saw many fast guitarists on youtube, but I haven't found anyone who plays with EMOTION. Now I found one! This I call "feeling for a guitar"!!

  • thanks very much PetieFr !
