Nice video! just a quick question. My aquarium has been running for about a month and a half. How often should i do a maintenance cleanup to my canister filter? and i thought that you should not clean all of the mechanics to the filter, since it has built up good bacteria. By cleaning it like that arent you killing the good bacteria? Im not talking about the sponge but the inside edges of the canister do you really have to clean that too?
When you do your water change, clean the sponges etc in the water you have taken out to ensure the bacteria is still kept on the products by using already established water.
@shaddysteven maybe truth that a sump is better in some cases, but as everything it has pros and cons, with a sump u can add more life rock to the system as well as chaeto for water purification but the pump can become noisy, will take more space than a filter etc,I can't complaint I got the tank in my room and filter is noisless, regarding the purification works good as well enough for my 20 gallon tank, Reef tanks is all about constant care no matter If u use sump pump or any other filter thanks
@riderinblack57 I bought it more than a year ago but I believe I spend $140.00 dollars but u can google Rena xp1 price for an accurate price thanks for stoping by
Your tank looks impeccable and your fish look healthy and happy as well. My nieces just got a new fish so this is very helpful on what I should be considering when it comes to keeping the tank clean and being aware of the ph balance and other things like that.
@FireballFever thank u man for the kind comment I'm glad I can help the reef keepers enthusiast keep it up n always check ur tank's parameters n have fun
Nice videos. I just started a saltwater tank 2.5 weeks ago and I have just been scouring the internet absorbing all the info I can. Your videos are very informative and thorough keep it up please cuz noobs like me need all the help we can get. Also I was curious about what kind of hardware you have running that tank such as lights, power heads, protein skimmer etc.
@NarcO773 Thanks 4 d kind comment man people N comments like urs make all the time I spend doing the vid worth every second of my time n once again I did it base on my little knowladge to help the others and get advice as well when coming from the right person and not heaters thanks again man happy reefing
very nice tank how long has it been set up for?looks like your doing the right thing because everything is very healthy looking i do a lot different way all i have is a skimmer and a phosphate remover and i do 10 gallon water changes once a week i have 55 gallon mixed reef tank.
@MrReefguy I started this tank on august 2009, with the time I have found that a 15 days water change is enough we only need to be checking parameters just to make sure everything is ok ph at the right level as well as magnesium thats all I care about now salinity as well thanks for stopping by Mr
@gatorsUF9606 I'm working with an under water video so you guys can see the beauty of the corals and the amazing color they have, thanks for the kind words
