Sorry if I was unclear but in my comment below I did say the Andantes were backup for the Love Child LP; on THe Supremes Sing the Cream of the Crop it was the Blackberries.
After the Andantes on the Love Child LP, on The Supremes sing The Cream of the Crop Diana's new back up group The Blackberries were singing and Mary & Cindy never sang Someday We'll Be Together.
Bobby Womack is the male voice you hear and, Mary & Cindy had to sign a waiver that they would not contest not be recognized otherwise they would not get residuals from the song. By this time Mary & Diana had had enough of each other. Dream Girl my Life as a Supreme will clear that up for 'ya!
@watchtyme if I'm not mistaken I remember reading somewhere that the male voice on Someday We'll Be Together was Johnny Bristol trying to keep up Diana's energy
@watchtyme whoever "The Blackberries" are, they aren't on this track. That's the Andantes. Mary and Cindy may be on this track too. That husky voice is most likely Mary's
If you listen closely, you can hear Mary in the background. I don't know about Cindy, but I don't think they would use Mary without Cindy. The Andantes may have appeard on this record, but so did Mary for sure.
I remember playing this song from the LOve Child album. My mother gave this album on 10th birthday. Thank you for posting it and bring me back my some wonderful memories.
Actually Mary and Cindy recorded more than what most people think. they were mixed in with the Andantes voice a good chunk of the time. this song being one of them
@blackguy69 Yeah I know, I think it is so wrong, they should have just left Mary and Cindy to get on with their backing and not use the Andantes at all, You just didn't need thoseAndantes, Mary ary and Cindy were capable of doing it themselvesl, xxxx
Kurtsupremes--does nothing but make stupid, dumb-assed statement about Diana Ross and that statement " Diane was not in good voice during these years" is one of his dumbest! Actually, he does not know of a year or years when Her Highness , Miss Ross, was not in superb voice. He is one crazy ass fag.
Drillin4Oil Diane was not in good voice during these years, Flo was gone, and the Andantes added very little to the sound. That's why most of the recordings that were done during the "Diana Ross" and The Supremes period in 1968-69 period are not memorable. This song is among the group of "not memorable" recordings of that time in my opinion. If you like it, to each his own............sounds like a "Diane as a solo act" recording. I don't enjoy Diane's voice without Mary, Flo and HDH.
@kurtsupreme I agree with you on one thing, I don't enjoy the Supremes without Flo and Mary or Mary and Cindy either, it is just not the Supremes with Diana and the Andantes, it might as well be her solo records during this time. xxxx
I was just describing the gowns at .37 to my aunt, that those were the gowns I last saw Diana, Cindy and Mary wear during their FAREWELL Tour at the Frontier Hotel, their din-din show on 1-10-70 [first show the gals wore those gold lame gowns from Sullivan's last show); those pink gowns were beautiful, with pink feathers at the bottom and also had wraps to match.
Those gowns & the image, if I'm not mistaken, are from their "G.I.T. On Broadway" TV special w/ The Temptations, for their "It Ain't Necessarily So" number. I love those gowns, too.:)
Yes they are; and the gowns worn during FUNKY BROADWAY on the t.v. special are the gowns the girls wore for their first show on 1-10-70 (have I mentioned I was 2 at the time?).

I did too but, I saw Bobby Womack on Mike Dougless and he was discussing his singing on the song.
Also, it's in Mary Wilson's book Dream Girl my Life as a Supreme.

This is one of the best tracks from Love Child. I wish Gordy would have given this album a nudge, it would have went top 10.

What a cool track by my girls, a nice blend of pop and jazz. Another example why these three were Supreme! Thanks for the post!

Like most of the Supremes songs after 1967, Mary and Cindy are nowhere to be found on this record :(

The ones w/ the paisley sleeves?

The "huge-sleeved" gold lame gowns . . . also worn on their last Ed Sullivan appearance . . .
