The bible, the book its based off of, is also one of a kind. No other book in all of history is like it; it has 66 books and was written in a span of 1500 years by over 40 different people. Jesus, God's Son, was crucified to fulfil all the law, to pay the price that none of us could pay, so that we could have relationship with God. If evolutionists are correct then at what point in man's development did they decide that there was some superior being to which they needed to worship or submit to get through life. @tallliza There is more hard evidence in the Bible than there is for evolution and the big bang, both of which people seem to forget are 'theories', not provable fact. In the earliest book in it, Job, it talks about the earth hanging on nothing and has confirmed several other scientific facts that they are not supposed to have known about back then. They discovered a missing Pharoah through the historical books. There is plenty of evidence to support what is written in it, more than evolution.

The thing that really pisses me off about Christians is the fact that so much evil occurred in the Old Testament, most of which was approved of by God, and yet their response to this is just: well, it was the Old Testament! It's not relevant... guess what? The Ten Commandments came from the Old Testament... are they not relevant? An example of the evil he allows and even likes is rape. He actively encourages rape in all forms, even pedophilic incestuous rape (Lot and his daughters).

Jesus, God's Son, was crucified to fulfil all the law, to pay the price that none of us could pay, so that we could have relationship with God. The law that was given to Moses had a purpose and that purpose has been fulfilled in and through Jesus Christ. So, yes, it is the inspired Word of God, and like any writing can be taken totally out of context, as it has been over the centuries, and as you are doing here.

The law has been superceded, not removed, it demanded that for a time within the Israelite/Jewish nation but has been replace by a higher law. No Christian would feel obligated to kill any of those people mentioned. It states that children are to be brought up in the way that they should go. If conquest is murder then you're probably right.

@tallliza The Bible itself is educational. It contains history, poetry, wisdom, legal, social, cultural elements. It speaks to all people through all time. It is people that have disregard for life not God. God gave His Son Jesus that all men might have life, not an act of a god who has total disregard for life. There are probably less than 30 murders recorded, I can think of only a handful myself and I've read the whole book.

The point I was trying to make is that God killing people to make room for His chosen people was not bad in context because He was fulfilling His promise to them. He was getting rid of the people that occupied the promised land so that His people could occupy the land. This is not a kindergarten level. And God was not killing good people, The people in the promised land before the Israelites were full of sin. Not only did God fulfill His promise, He judged those who did not make way for His people. God continuously warned His people not to wander astray like those who were previously in the land.

And what did God do? He did not judge her or her family, God saved them. He provided a way of escape in order that they might live. Because we as sinful people cannot live up to God's standard, we must trust in Jesus' perfect sacrifice on the cross and Him being raised form the dead three days later. And there are many other examples of the O. T.'s relevance, such as Abraham and his amazing faith that should be an example to Christians in the modern day.

If we disregard some of the evidence then we are throwing away the very thing we need to make sure we can conclude what is true. I am saying that if we cannot prove something to be false, then it can be counted as a possibility until, or unless, it is later proven wrong. All possibilities cannot be true, otherwise they will end up contradicting one another.

@tallliza There is more hard evidence in the Bible than there is for evolution and the big bang, both of which people seem to forget are 'theories', not provable fact. In the earliest book in it, Job, it talks about the earth hanging on nothing and has confirmed several other scientific facts that they are not supposed to have known about back then. They discovered a missing Pharoah through the historical books. There is plenty of evidence to support what is written in it, more than evolution.

People haven't really studied evolution either accepting it as fact because that is what they have been told, but if they did then they might start questioning where are all the missing links, how many impossible creatures there are living (eg bombardier beetle).
