  • Freddy is my 1st cousin - our dad's were brothers. I still miss his beautiful smile, his laugh and his incredible talent. There is no other like him. He will be loved for all eternity. Toni

  • Freddie was one of my early college buddies from Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, NC. First met him when he played with Sonny Long and the In-Men, Ltd. at our high school(Morehead High School, Eden, NC) Jr./Sr. dance. I used to catch him and the guys at Bill Griffith's Castaways Club in Greensboro(after they changed their name to Peace Corps). I was in Richmond going to school when the trial for the scumbag that murdered him was going on. Freddie was a great guy and great talent.

  • Freddy was from my hometown - Burlington, NC - he is still a treasure to us. He was killed March 4, 1979 - almost 30 years ago...may he rest in peace.

  • Anyone remember a song ... Radio announcer used to intro it as ... Bill Deal and the Rhondels with Burlington's own Freddie Owens... song was "Can You Live Without Me". I believe that's correct on the song title.

  • Wow! Blast from the past!!! I remember Freddie Owens. Was murdered at a Holiday Inn in Richmond, Va. God bless his soul, and Bill Deal's, too. Bill once let me sit in (on guitar) with his band at the Persian Room on Broad St. in Rich. Va. I'll miss them.
