When I referenced Magritte, I was only referring to this particular film which has several mise-en-scenes directly modeled on Magritte's paintings. Though not as obviously as La Belle Captive.
On Top of the Whale is also one my favorites by Ruiz but I badly need to revisit La Chouette Aveugle.

This is wonderful. I don't speak much French, but the sense of humour in Ruiz's visuals is breathtaking.
