  • Just a note: Orson's surname was an 'e' in it. Everyone is spelling it Wells when it should be Welles. ;)

  • Yes, always.

  • this cartoon was intended for the orson welles clip, yes? it's just too perfect not have been made for it!

  • @lorrainewands You see, the guys at the recording studio had access to these recordings among other things. Maurice LaMarche (Brain's VA) and the rest of the crew liked this Orson Wells' session so much they made an episode out of it.

  • its unicron!!

  • Orson Welles was awesome.

  • lol I have this ep on VHS. I didn't realize that they were actually making fun of an Orson Well's experience.

  • I love that they made this episode after Orson Well's

  • 01:41 "Here, under protest, is beef burgers." Watch out for Welles' sharp tongue.

  • From the depths of your ignorance...

This guy was great. If only he was still alive.

  • "show how you can, in the english language begin a sentence with "in" and emphasise it, and I'll go down on you"

  • I'm working on uploading every Pinky & The Brain episode onto YouTube. Click my name and view my channel to watch what I've uploaded so far.

  • just sounds like john lutner

  • 36 people don't know who Orson Welles is

  • @434Noise ?

  • Not true, they also changed the line "I'll go down on you" to "I'll make cheese for you". But yeah, the rest of it is identical.

  • I love this. Aside from changing "shit" to "tripe", everything was exactly the same. It's hilarious. xD

  • I saw this episode on its original airing and was completely confused by it. Years later I learned about the Orson Wells connection and it's one of my faves!

  • This rules balls. You rock my sox.

  • Wow nice dub.

  • lol, I love the way he says "Yes" at 0:39.

  • "This is a lot of shit, you know that."

    XDD Epic

  • Get me a jury and show me how you can say 'in July' and I'll...go down on you!

    WTF did you just say?

  • 666 ratings 0.0

  • spot on

  • Ahhh Orson Welles, I think only Marlon Brando had a bigger ego than him and they both acted like assholes because of it.

I think modesty is a word not found in their vocabularies

  • @aceshighdueceslow It is hard to not be an asshole even with a normal amount of attention, but when your ego is constantly flattered by everyone in the world, or at least those that one can choose to surround her or himself with...it may not be right, but it probably explains a lot.

  • Fantacular.

  • Orson/Brain is right, you can't start a sentence with a preposition.

  • @spencnaz With respect, you can. At least these sentences do. From where I stand, you shouldn`t * end * a sentence with a preposition. To say you can`t begin a sentence with a preposition would be to deny me each of these. :D

  • This is great. Now I have to go find William Shatner saying the word "sabotage" and LBJ talking about his nutsack and burping like some hillbilly.

  • this is fantastic! works really well together.

  • Well duh! This Pinky and the Brain short was an (almost) word-for-word reenactment of the old Orson Welles sound clip, so of course they fit together ;-)

  • Welles was a great actor and director, perhaps not such a great person. But his talent overcomes that. This is a marvelous piece of showcasing his craft and care towards his work. Plus it's funny as all get-out.

  • It's almost scary of how well that syncs up!! But still a great vid!

  • Creepy how it syncs up. LOL

  • Awesome!!!

  • This is great! I saw this out of order, that is I saw the cartoon segment and then found out about what it was based on. Watching them together like this is wonderful! Thanks for this!

  • I found the episode online someplace after finding this and just had to play them both at the same time.

    Nice work!

  • That's creepy how it syncs up.

  • yeah they did that on purpose. its not a creative editing trick. this Orsen Wells scene was actually done on purpose, and it was brilliant.

  • Brain's voice was based on Orson Wells. This is great cartoon making, reminds me of the classic Looney Tunes done to classic music, ala "Kill the wabbit!"

  • Yeah, the guy who did his voice often impersonated Welles in other things

  • The Brain's voice sounds more like Vincent Price to me.

  • dude its a mix of BOTH, thats a perfect way of putting it..

  • This is amazing. XD

  • lol nice

  • Snow... in July?

  • Rosebud...yes Rosebud Frozen Peas, full of country goodness and green peaness...wait that's terrible. I quit. Just a hand full for the road...oh what luck there's a french-fry stuck in my beard. Mmm ya.

  • @LuneyTune72 HAHAHA!! The epic-ness! I remember when I saw that as a kid. Laughed so hard i literally peed my pants.

  • Comment removed

  • I always wondered what the deal was with this episode.

  • It looks like Brain is saying the exact same thing as Orson Wells, were they actually?

  • Yes, verbatim

  • That's so cool, I would never be able to notice that back when I watched this show.

  • Except of course they changed the phrases "I'll go down on you" and "this is a load of shit." Not even Animaniacs could get away with that. Granted, they did get away with "Finger Prince," but still.

  • @434Noise Except for words like "shit".

  • @434Noise uh except for the curse word

  • ITA...the other thing that cracks me up in this one

is Pinky is the one telling Brain what to do for a ch

    ange...i just caught that.

  • @Shadgrimgrvy Yup. The dialog in this particular Pinky and the Brain short is taken pretty much exactly from this real life recording. Except the profanity.

  • so was a actual pinky and the brain episode or is it all just audio sync, as its bloody amazing bit of work

  • It was an actual episode. I think it was called, "Yes, Always".

From what I've heard, the actor who played the Brain would "get into character" by reciting Welles' commercial outtake.

  • This is amazing!!!!

  • This is incredible dubbing.

  • OH MY GOD. I didn't even realize this was taken from the quote!

  • Very well dubbed.

    5/5

  • i thought it was funny as hell when olsen wells said "this is alot of shit you know that?"

  • nicely done

  • Ha ha! Now the Rosebud Peas joke in the crititc also makes so much more sense!

  • almost as if it was made for this

  • YES!!!

  • When I saw this as a kid I had no idea why they made this. I just didn't get the joke. I guess you get older and wiser and suddenly jokes makes sense.

    YES!

  • 1:53 The best quote ever! Made me laugh so hard!

  • Wow, thats something else

  • "and I'll go down on ya." Orsen Wells never said that in Citizen Kane. lol

  • Lol! Hilarious.

  • Very funny! I dont think i've ever heard Orson Wells curse before.

  • Aw, why did cut out the bit with "I take direction from ONE person, UNDER PROTEST, but with two I don't sit still. Who the hell are you, anyway?" / "I'm the engineer." / "Well why the hell are you asking me for another one?" / "Well, I thought there was a slight gonk and I wanted to be sure." / "Jesus! What is a gonk? Would you mind telling me what that is?" / "A bang from outside." / "A bang from outside..." (sip). All that part of the outtake is in the cartoon too.

  • There was a time constraint. they only had about 6 minutes for the short.

  • You misunderstood what I wrote. The parts I quote ARE in the cartoon, and in the outtake reel. They're just missing from this YouTube video's mix.

  • no it doesn't.

  • I believe it's cockney.

  • Brilliant! 5*

  • Yes Yes Yes

  • "In the depths of your ignorance"...Orson is such an awesome guy...

  • wow orson wells is a drama queen

  • This is definately one of the best in-jokes/references in cartoon history... and I totally understand it now. I wouldn't have when I was younger.

  • Geez, it looks like that's what they're really saying!

  • cause they were, this cartoon was based of this actual recording and with the exception of some sensorship and a few lines, it is quoted verbatum from the origional recording.

  • Huh. You don't say.

    Well, that explains a lot.

  • ^-^

  • Heh.

  • !!!!!!

Angelofcrepusculence, are you pondering what I'm pondering?

  • I think so, kevlonk, but aren't cow tutus illegal in Michigan?

  • damn good

  • HAHA This was really good. The editing was very good. Voice fits almost perfect to the brain.

  • Brain, i believe, was designed after Orson Wells, hense why the characters voice is rather close to his...

  • Brain's voice was based on Orson's

  • you can kind of tell in this one...i didn't catch it till

you said it but that is kind of cool. these shows

had cute episodes but they had ones like this that

    had a point.

  • Yes, always!!

  • I wonder if the Brain "Will sell no wine before its time"?

  • HA! Great job. "We know a certain fjord in Norway..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • I think the most awesome part of this is considering Orson Welles himself as the voice of Brain. "The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over... THE WORLD!"

I guess Unicron will have to remain his greatest legacy for our generation.

  • And he'd be rolling in his grave if he knew that was his legacy. (He loathed that role.)

  • "Too much directing around here."

You THINK Orson? You're NOT the director!

  • This is absolutely hilarious.

  • strangely perfect!!

  • he sounds like an asshole heh

  • he was the greatest film maker of his generation... he has the right to be a jerk lol

  • i disagree. Nobody has the right to be like that ever. They paid him to do his part, prabably by contract.. and he has to do it. If i was that director i'd prabably sew his ass for breaking the contract

  • You'd need a lot of thread to sew his bottom.

Anyhow, Don Rickles gave Orson a very nice introduction at one of Dean Martin's celebrity roasts in the 70s, and Welles tears into both Rickles and Martin. The "hee hee I'm more educated than you" thing against Rickles seemed on the verge of being mean-spirited.

Going after Dean Martin for "one of the greatest romantic songs of all time" was funny.

  • War of the Worlds, citizen Cane, Rosebud- when you're the Speilberg or Shakespeare or Babe Ruth of your field at the time, you have the right to your ego.

People complain about T.O. now, but as I've always said: as long as you can put up, you don't have to shut up.

    Gotta love Orson.

  • YES, always!! : )

The funny part is that if he had just done the commercial, it would have been in the can and nobody would remember it today.

  • I agree with Power. If I had to read something that was poorly written I would be ticked off too. I wouldn't lower my standards. O_o

  • I LOVE when Orson stops mid-sentence and says "...this is a lot of shit, you know that?" AWESOME.

  • Me too! :D

  • Hahahaha. This is amazing.

  • I like how they made the lines kid-friendly on Pinky & The Brain. "I'll... make cheese for you."

  • well said. let's just focus on the awesomeness that is pinky and the brain, coupled with Orson welles. thanks for uploading!

  • are those images on the tv actually in the real clip from Pinky and the Brain or were those added to help the dialog? cuz its so funny how the tv matches what he says.

  • Yes, Always.

  • yup! i thought that too, at first. its an actual episode. ^_^

  • thats incredible

  • Wow, this show and Animaniacs were actually aware of people like Orson Welles!

  • Ohhhh

you know, this episode always confused me

It seemed so random and pointless

    But now I totally understand

    lol

    I feel stupid.

    Hilarious

  • I know! Animaniacs always had underlying entendres on the show that we would never get as kids, which makes the show awesome. =)

  • this is THE clip where Maurice LaMarche got the idea for the voice of Brain...

  • Excellent Audio/Visual matching skills. Almost felt like it was drawn to his conversation. Some parts missed but overall great!

  • brain's gonna go down on pinky

  • Genius at work ..

  • Lol that was fucking hilarious

  • didn't they do something like this on the critic

  • wow, the since is praticly perfect :)

  • lol

  • I remember this clip from when I was a kid. Was Orsen Wells doing that as a joke when it was originally made or can anyone explain how it ended up being redone by Pinky and the Brain.

  • The audio is from an infamous blooper tape where Orson Welles went in to do voice work for a set of commercials, became frustrated with the poorly written script and nonsensical directing, and eventually left in anger.

As far as I can tell, the actual episode was kind of an in-joke where they sort of "reenact" the tape with Pinky and the Brain, with Brain going in to do voice work for WB or something. The in-joke originates from Maurice LaMarche using his Welles impression for the Brain.

  • I have no idea. This is a video about two cartoon mice, NOT GOD.

  • I love the 'YESS!' at 00:40 :D

  • WOAH!!!!!!!!!!

    this is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • this is brilliant :)

  • VERY nicely done

  • whats the difference between the christian god and the mormon god again?

  • that is just about the most amazing thing I've seen in a while... good work. How did you get the inspiration for the sync?

  • On the second disc of Mark Hamill's 'Comic Book: The Movie' the voice actor of Brain reveals that this audio clip of Orson Welles was the inspiration for the character.

  • Mostly boredom one day. That and I thought it would be a cool idea to try to sync the two. From the responses I got it seems like I did a good job. Took about 3 hours to do.

  • This is hilarious.

  • great lip syncing

  • brilliant

  • Oh my God... I about died from the awesomeness. ;)

  • Huh? When did I swear?

  • Oh, okay then, point taken. Sorry for offending you. ^^; (Although I guess I'm a little perplexed that you'd call me out on saying God on a video that ways "shit" and "go down on you", but I am a Christian and understand where you're coming from.) ;p

  • um I do believe that commander30 said "oh my God"... That means HIS god if you were to know that you both worship the same god then you can get all bent out of shape otherwise he did not take your gods name in _vein_ (also you should learn to spell)

  • In this context, it would actually be "vain", not "vein". Just a friendly correction on YOUR spelling.

(Oh, and by the way, I'm actually a she.) :D

  • ah, right, I saw "a transient mood" in the definition of vein and thought that was it...

  • Lawl. Saying "Oh my god" isn't taking the lord's name in vain.

Saying you're a Christian when you're not (i.e. for the vanity) is taking his name in vain.

  • Uh... yeah it is.
