  • My dad's old MacBook got a big one like those, must be a design fault

  • my macbook is full of those cracks ..... apple says they will fix it for free

  • Mine has the same thing!

  • @nk965 Mine too.

  • mine has the same thing but way bigger it goes from the corner to the trackpad corner and it is also cracking up the right hand corner

  • Hehehe I thought you ment your PC was retarded and wa acting up and you refered it to drugs

  • this happend to me

  • I have the same crack on the same spot

  • Dude my mac has a lot larger crack then that haha. Well it as several cracks. I really didn't do anything wrong to it either. It just kind of happened. I'm hoping to get a new computer here soon anyway.

  • @shizelpops they will replace the top and screen bezel for free as quality program if you are interested just go to Apple Store

  • thats why you get a mbp :)

  • happened to me to same place

  • This happened to me too! I at first thought I bumped it against something, but then it HAPPENED AGAIN!

  • I can tell ya why it cracked, that is one of the older versions of the macbook. They tend run run pretty hot(temperature). From all the heat stress, it will cause the plastic shell to crack. I have the new macbook with snow leppard and it runs much cooler. If u don't want that to happen, my suggestion is to either buy the new macbook with snow leppard, or use a cooling pad when ever you use it. Hope this helps. :) :)

  • ii have the same cracks lol

  • OMG ! mine did the EXACT same thing :/ urgh and now a fucking CD is jammed in it .

well its been jammed for about a year now ugh i just new cause its making fucked up sounds

  • LOL MacBook CrackBook

  • same her 2 same sort of burst and broken cd drive

  • I just bought mine used and it has that, i didnt think it was anything but is it a problem? should I send it back??

  • You think that's bad? You should see mine.

  • i also hate apple my macbook keeps crashing

  • @lucaswaske apple apologizes for the inconvenience. When did you purchase your macbook? If it is still under warranty, you can get it fixed/replaced because it is a defective device.

  • It really comes from not closing your Macbook lid gently ,letting it slam down.I hold mine all the way down until it closes.

  • is it a bird? is it a plane? NO, it's SUPER Glue! :D

  • m2..smart comment

  • I hade the same mac book as you an year ago, it had 5 cracks then after a while I don't know why but my screen started to break and wasn't able to see the stuff on my computer and yeah... bla bla bla.

  • Macs are also mass produced in Asia from the same manufacturing company as many other computers- Quantum Computer

  • @iwashere990 Actually, that one was made by foxconn.

  • @musicfreakcc Andrew had a crackbook.

  • @iwashere990 its actually quantis computing

  • @iwashere990 all macs are made by foxconn, dickhead.....

  • @kismo94 Quanta Computer has reportedly landed a contract with Apple to manufacture new notebooks, according to the Chinese news outlet Commercial Times. The computer maker is said to be the exclusive MacBook producer in the second half of 2009, with an estimated production volume of 10 million units shipped to Apple by the end of the year.

  • @kismo94 The reports appear to indicate the relationship between Apple and Quanta continues to develop, as MacBooks account for a larger portion of the manufacturer's capacity.. Previous suppliers included companies such as ASUS or Foxconn, although Quanta is the primary producer of the aluminum-unibody housings featured in the majority of MacBook offerings. Dickhead.

  • @iwashere990 uh hu, great life you got thur, im sure you have a girlfriend.....

  • @kismo94 as a matter of fact I do. Now please stop acting like a child and do something productive like learning how to spell.

  • @kismo94 well to be honest, i do act like a child, i'm 15 anyway, and i can spell, i achieved an A in English literature and a B in English language, i just choose to not use correct spelling and grammar on the internet purely because its just easier to use shortened 'text language' words or phrases. As to the corresponding argument i could say another childish thing back, but i choose to not, and do as you would say, 'stop acting like a child.'

  • If only apple thought of using rubber stubs:(

  • I'm soory to ask, but... did you steal my computer to make this video? Because I have that MacBook model, and there's acrack that looks EXACTLY like that, in the EXACT same place.

  • and the guys at apple says it's the best? hahahaha :P

  • lol i have a crack to

  • PC laptops are cheap, nast, mass-produced asian bullshit.

  • macbooks are only $999 US now.

  • Apple is aware of this issue and is still replacing MacBook top cases and display bezels free of charge even on out-of-warranty machines. Mine is a MacBook (Late 2006) which still hasn't cracked, i've affixed some rubber dampers to the display bezel as a precaution so hopefully it'll never crack. Regardless I have spare parts here in case it does.

  • mine is too...just noticed it! :(

  • I have the Same exact thing in the same exact place

  • we all have the same fuckinh problem dude that's why i would buy the new maacbook or macbook pro

  • hey i have the same macbook and i see a crack beginning, i have an apple care warranty for 3 years, if the crack becomes real bad like yours is my mac covered? thanks

  • @Nevanator7 My computer was out of warranty and Apple still repaired it free of charge!

  • @musicfreakcc wow really? thats awesome, i can seen now why they had made a unibody enclosure to the newer macbooks. i also have heat stress cracks i guess you can call them by the back vents where the heat escapes, anyway thanks for the help.

  • @musicfreakcc how do u get it fixed for free? cuz i got a crack on the bottom case of my macbook

  • @bludika You cant get it fixed free unless it has applecare. They are easy to fix just take the bottom and side screws out plus like 6 screws where the battery is.After that the keyboard and and palm rest comes right up,get a replacement on ebay for $20-30 bucks, simple fix.

  • @musicfreakcc do they seriously repair it free of charge if it is cracking

  • @Nevanator7 yes. It is. Because you are not at fault, you can get it repaired for free. The Apple Care takes care of it.

  • @TheAsianAppleGod okay thank you, the cracks have stopped for now but the major ones are right by the exhaust fan

  • @Nevanator7 Not a problem. Did you get your computer turned in for checkup/fix? If you have not done so, you should do that as soon as you can.

  • Ha, you should see mine. Literally half the plastic around the edges broke off already, and I've only had this thing for about a year.

  • poor design, an admited design flaw.

  • macs are the best for music production. ive had nightmares with windows.

  • louder please, can't hear anything you are saying....

  • I have the same problem

  • i have the same problem but applecare will repair it free if you have it

  • Aw, this happened to me to!

  • wth I have the same exact crack on my macbook . its the same shape size and on the same place. I my numeric keys don't work most of the time. I don't care much about the crack but you know how can i fix my numeric keys.

  • i have that same crack in the exact same spot

  • Take it into the store and they will fix/replace it.

    Reason why Mac > PC

  • mac is shit, get over it...

  • I got mine fixed by Apple... It´s fucked again. OK, aluminum next.

  • Windows is better..

  • this is the same as my black mac book

  • Its skin cancer for Macbook's.

  • this happened to me today. i am not ok with this. after keeping my macbook better than factory condition not even a spit smudge on the screen this happens. i rather be shot in ass.

  • Changed mine once and it still cracked at the same exact spot. Moving on to the aluminum body one soon.

  • i havelike 5 of these crack. its a goot computer but bad caseing

  • omg this just happend to me yesturday i just crazy glued it back though

  • I have a crack in the exact same place

  • Damn how many people have this problem? No wonder they're fixing it for free, they raped you for 3x what the thing is worth in the first place, it's the least they can do...I guess, or maybe ship you a nice PC :)

  • i replaced the topcase, although i didnt know apple is replacing it for free.. so i had to pay for it cuz i didnt know

  • yeah i have same problem... :/ this happen bcuz i used when i was drunked and puss stronge and my macbook broken :/

  • yeah i have the exact same problem and now the trackpad is thinking its clicked and this may be due to a similar problem.. (its not battery related :S )

  • AHHH! UR A MAC USER! Pc's dont have the same problem

  • @comsa42 pcs are shit.

  • @bitzannbobz but how come i ended up playing ps3 on a pc then? why can't i do that with a mac, oh wait THEY FAIL AT PUCKING LIFE!

  • @comsa42 but how come you're playing ps3 on a PC. i play my ps3 on 50 inch HD LG plasma tv. dont you have a tv. now who suck. comsa42 FAIL.

  • @bitzannbobz no no no, i play PS3 games on a PC, and i connect my pc to a 52 inch tv. and macs suck, because they crack all the time and arnt customizable.

  • @comsa42 thats even worse. just get a ps3. my macbook is so fast i can run everything at once and no loss of speed. and macs dont get affected by viruses and adware. i bought a brand new pc last month top of the range and its slowed straight down. never had this with mac. this little crack is the only thing ive ever had. and you dont need to customise a mac. they are the best looking and fastest computers u can get.

  • @bitzannbobz 1 - Service packs don’t cost $199 2 - No price premium for flashy design 3 - Thousands of decent games for pc 4 - Two mouse buttons 5 - Broadband just works 6 - Custom-made systems 7 - Macs are months behind 8 - Life beyond 1st January 10 - Safety in numbers 11 - Sensible support costs 12 - Microsoft’s on your team 13 - Black’s still the new black 14 - The CD-ROM has an eject button 15 - No confusing version numbers 16 - Fast Bootup 17 - Cheap OEM versions

  • @comsa42 PCs suck ass my friend. i wish i never bought my pc and spent my money on more peripherals for my mac. google why are macs better than pcs.

  • @comsa42

16; i will race my macbook against any pc for boot up. it literally takes 45 secs to home screen ready to click net with no lag or waiting time. the boot up speed is one of the best things about mac.

  • @bitzannbobz how can you say the mac's are the best looking and fastes computers you can get?? seriously dude get real there are hundreds of different models of windows laptops that look miles better than mac's, honestly size and width isnt everything theres loads of rather chunky laptops out there that look terrific! and house faster processors for a lot less money. i like mac's and i like pc's so im not biased in any way but obvious fanboys are so pathetic sometimes.

  • @jinx20001 just to name a few laptops which look great, sony vaio's always tend to look sleek and quality, samsungs R series looks pretty darn sexy. toshiba's qosmio... although not elegant and so much sexy it still stuns you with its looks and manages to get a wow from me every time. every mac owner will bang on about the simplicity and how sleek the macs look but if you ask me they look a little too basic and boring i want my lappy to shout out to everyone look at me, macbooks dont do that.

  • this is why i love the new uni body macbook

    haha that doesnt happen anymore

  • I currently have the aluminum unibody 15" MacBook, and love it. That machine is rock-solid and has no defects, although since it's aluminum, it does scratch very easily.

  • @musicfreakcc don't forget it dents easily too :P

  • WoW! i had EXACTLY the same crack in mine! good its free to repair :D

  • @ZoMfgRoflMaoLOL SAme here man! my macbook has the same friggin crack and down in pakistan i dont think they repair stuff (not for free atleast)

  • @ZoMfgRoflMaoLOL where did you get yours repaired?

  • @aldigol,

Got it repaired at the apple store in my city, Pippin

  • @ZoMfgRoflMaoLOL mine is the same too, but you say free repair... but was your apple care in affect, cause i want mine fixed but my apple care expired.

  • i got a crack in the same place and i also got a crack right under the tracker or the mouse pad thing hahaha it pretty much sucks :(

  • My Toshiba, is 2 years old, and has been dropped hard a couple of times, and it has NO cracks in it at all. Actually though, the NEW Macbook which is so much kewler and awesomer than any other laptop I've ever seen, is my DREAM laptop. Plus, there isn't going to be any cracks.

  • put a striker over it

  • Weird my mac cracked there and same place as another guy in another vid

  • @agentcamo same here

  • ditto

  • Same place for mine also :O

  • you know apple replaces the crashed part for free, even if your computer is out of varranty? i had the same thing with my macbook (last summer, it was 3 years old) and i found an article somewhere that apple will replace it for free, so i had it replaced just before i sold it =)

  • @kirboo

Hi, I'm in same situation as I'm out of warranty and have this ugly crack on my MacBook.

Do I need to send it to apple or to take apple store? Do you know how long they take to fix it as I dont have apple store near where I live and will need to drive 4 hrs to nearest apple store.

Any information would be helpful, kidnly reply.

  • not glotting but dont you wish you just spent 1k on a realy well built and strong computer and the other 1K on something else useful than 2K on that macbook? i have droped my $400 notebook (was $1000, just going by currant value) has been dropped at least 10 times and still no crack. Its ok to buy a PC you can load OSx86 on it and still have a mac OS but it will cost less last longer.

  • That's very true - I've never had a laptop last as long as this one. Even after a few drops which occurred well after I made this video, the machine still works wonderfully. Apple replaced the top part of my case, despite the fact that my computer was out of warranty.

  • @musicfreakcc I've managed to crack my casing, break my screen, and my cooling fans. I only fault apple for the cooling fans. But after three years I am not complaining. Anything that has else Apple fixed via Apple Care.

I love my MacBook, and can't wait till I get my new screen for my MacBook.

  • Stop pulling figures out of your ass. If you pay 2 grand for a white MacBook then you just got robbed. Seriously even if you are overseas you could ship it from the states to wherever you live for cheaper then that.

A PC will not last longer. I have friends and family members buy PCs. They replace theirs every year. My laptop is on its 3rd year and running strong.

  • the point being that NEW it is expensive and not really worth that 2K (basically hi end macs are 2k new). "I love my MacBook, and can't wait till I get my new screen for my MacBook." is what you said and roughly translates to "i love my macbook cant wait to fix it!" hmmm. im not knocking the mac os it awesome but to get a decent laptop from apple with good specs you have to sell a testicle.

  • But the white MacBook is not Apples "high end" laptop. Even at their most expensive (back in 2006 when the first came out) the white macbook would run you at MOST $1,299. Today you can buy a MacBook for a thousand dollars.

I don't see how Apple is a fault for ME breaking my screen from abuse. Maybe you should check out apples website. A MacBook pro have good one for under $1,500.

Besides with all the stuff a Mac comes with you really do get something from your money.

  • This has happened to mine twice now. I have purchased this off of someone and I am not the registered owner. They have replaced this free of charge. It is a known defect. They will also, replace the bezel if there is a crack around the plastic bumper.

  • mie has the fuking same exactly the fuking same!!! im so so fkn angry cuz it waznt my fault and i paid for the fixing

    HATE THIS ISSUE!

  • how much it cost t replace it? i have the same problem... it cracked today and... well, i dislike it to see the topcase in that way, i just... bah.

  • Same crack on mine, same place...just out of warranty. One day it was fine and the next day, CRACKED.

  • Ugh, same thing has happened on both the top and the bottom. I'm definitely getting an aluminum Macbook Pro next.

Plus, my warranty has run out, and I'm not even sure Apple will fix it for me.

  • Apple will replaced for $29.99 .

  • APPLE CARE?!?!?!??!?!

  • it happens to me alot. but i have this thingy that protects the computer thats covering the cracks. i don't mind it at all. i shouldn't close the mac so its slamming the computer. but i can see why people are complaining about it though.

  • One word, applecare

  • It's not his fault, it's a common problem. It's a design flaw, could happen to anyone at anytime.

  • my macbook doesn't crack like that, however i did notice how weak the cheap ass plastic case is.

apple should make better quality macbooks, considering the fact that they charge for them

  • it's from the magnets that are in the walls of the screen

  • same thing happened to mine and ive only had it like 9 months.

  • wow wtf lol I have that same crack... What a PoS

  • Got the same cracks but I was hitting it on walls! I have one big crack by my Sleep Light and one small one by the battery, I think these macbook are made from cheap plastic that break easily.

  • I've got a crack like that on my MacBook in the exact same place

  • I GOT A FREE MAC FROM MY SKOOL

and the computer has done the same thing

I DONT think it is worth getting fixed or even EVER getting fixed the skool can stuff the mac up there ass.

if i were to im sure it would do the same thing again

and pluS the whole year 9's got it and three of my friends had the same problem

MAC IS JUST TRYING TO MAKE SOME CHEAP CASH

    IT's NOT MY FAULT

but does any one know how much it would cost if i did have to pay for it TO be fixed without warrently?

  • Perhaps your school should invest in reading books-not MacBooks.

  • Yer well you can tell them that

and don't worry i got it fixed :)

it was 5 months ago anyways

  • either that or iPads :D

  • my dad has got a macbook like that but in black its 3 years old now to, and it has got exactly the same crack in exactly the same place, i think its just a problem about the model the way its designed.

  • me and my dad have those

  • I have indentations on both sides, so it might end up cracking soon.

  • I have one in the exact same place on my white macbook. I think its from holding it with one hand when holding it up.

  • im out of warranty no apple care will they fix it?

  • apple will replace it no matter what even if your out of warranty

  • mine got a crack just like that, what should i do?

  • Apple will replace it.... under warranty, mine cracked too..

  • I HAVE THE EXACT SAME CRACK ON BOTH SIDES... IT SUCKS SO BAD BECAUSE WE ARE NOT AT FAULT!!!!!

both sides literally have those cracks.. theres nothing they could do to help me since my warranty didn't cover damage from use. but i am gentle with all of my stuff.. its bullshit eh?

  • dude same here

  • the same thing happened to my brothers. the same exact side. he only had his for maybe like 3 months before it happened i think.

  • I have that too except mine is on the left side, I'm not very happy about Apple.

  • i got mine on the top right all the cracks look exactly the same

  • How long have you had this and did you ever have any problems in mechinical terms?

  • mine happened at the same spot, out of warrenty though. I'll see what they can do.

  • Exact same crack appeared on my white MacBook, together with cracks on the bottom case. Sent it to apple for a repair under warranty. Apple only offered to replace the top case under warranty. I called apple to explain that the cracks on top and bottom case appeared spontaneously after I had the laptop for only a month. They claimed that without even seeing the latop that the cracks had occcoured due to customer abuse and that the would not replace the bottom case. MacBook's are cheap trash.

  • Same for me, but they only replaced the bottom case until I had a screen issue and they broke the top case, so they had to replace both!

  • mine has that too..it is true it just came out of no where!

  • mine cracked after 6 months:( will they give me a new one?

  • Apple did a recall and free replacement for mine. It did the same thing and it's happening again now.

  • me to :/

  • im scared this is gonna happen to mine

    how can i prevent it

    ah.

  • never shut the lid lol. i have 3 cracks around that area

  • THE EXACY same thing happened to my friend and me. that's weird

  • Hmm, same thing happened to me. I was out of warranty and they fixed it for me for free.

  • how? The same thing happened to me. Did you take it in the Apple store or placed your order online?

  • This has just happened to mine, only a crack so like not completely come off like yours. How could I get this fixed then? I mean I've only had my MacBook for around 3 months ish.

  • i have the same exact thing on my mac

  • what if my cd drive is bent and not working, its only 3 weeks old so still under warranty, and the screen is not completely straight, will they fix that or will i need to get a new one, and what exactly does apple care cover

  • Get is replaced, it should be under warranty.

  • thanks, i called to make an appointment with the genius bar, and the lady said she didnt think it would be covered it is pissing me off

  • Same thing happend to mine im phoning apple to complain allong with the other isues on it!

  • face it. the quality of apple "hardware" has gone down the drain. :: runs from kool aid drinkers ::

  • The EXACT same thing happened to mine when I was under warranty and they replaced the entire top case for free but I've heard of people getting those replaced when their MacBooks went out of warranty for free, since that is kind of a bad deal.

But new MacBooks are expected to come out in a couple of weeks in an aluminum casing and really thin so you should really look into those.
