Are the akita inu and the american akitas temperaments similar? I am told that the Akita inu temperament is more similar to a huskies...

Yes, akita inu and american akitas have similar temperament. But it's the opposite of Hukies 's temperament ;-)

hi im looking into buying an akita and i was wondering if you could just give me a but of info on them, i was looking into the japanise type. ive heard they can be quite tempermental but im sure thats not all true!! also i have heard they have to be constantly on a lead in public places?? just wondering if you could give me some facts on the breed from an akita owners perspective?? any help would be greatly apprecited, thanks :)

i think the inu has more temperment than american or is it the other way around all i know is that i=one is calmer than the other

you can search Breed all about it- Akita and dogs 101- Akita. it will give you ALOT of help =) Im not and Akita owner, but i have searched my facts on them. They were bred to take down bears in Japan and well. go ahead and just search those vids up ;)

akita and american akita`s are almost identical. the differences are the bodies. the american version is more robust, akita inu`s head and face is more triangular ... that`s kinda the only difference. their intelligence is the same, their love for the family is the same, their loiality is the same

Well to brighten things up for you, Akitas CAN live in Apartment buildings if need be. They are very adaptable dogs and as long as the dog got some sort of exercise then it would be fine. :)
