I feel sorry for the guy in the red ferrari, just few seconds after he took over the white porsche, another yellow porsche passed him like a bullet. After that lap, he must be thinking of selling his F430, and want to wait for the F458. Unfortunately before the F458 even being delivered yet, the GT3 RS MK2 is already 5 seconds faster than the F458 in Nurburgring lap time (both cars driven by same person, Horst Saurma).
there is no f458, just 458 italia(or simply 458); not all ferrari cars get the "F" leter in fron of their designated code number; f430 had it, so was the f355 but not(for example, the 360 modena)
In September, 2008 I got a ride around the Nordschleife with a professional race driver at the wheel in a Renault Clio Sport and it was mighty impressive indeed! I can only imagine what it was like to go in a GT3 with Walter Rohrl at the wheel My ride cost me like a $100 and it was worth every penny of it! If you ever go over Germany, the "Ring" is a definite must!
No it wasn't scary, just the most exciting thing I've ever expereinced as a passenger in a car! I haven;t deiven at the Ring yet, but I hope to when I go back!
I think I've watched this 20 times, it really is the best instruction. Walter must be the only driver in the world who at Wehrseifen on those short 5mtrs between the first right hander and the subsequent 180 degree left manages to accelerate again briefly and then execute a flawless heel-toe downshift from 3 to 2. I always struggle to simply keep the car on track under braking and do the heel-toe bit, to be able to step on the gas there as well - man, that's driving a form of art....
@shaolinwolf2009 & toyz4bigboys While you look up to Mr Röhrl for his driving skills, I can probably look up to yours, and I envy you for even being able to afford doing laps on this track.
@toyz4bigboys if don't have it in your blood you'll just put yourself in danger...and others. you're right, driving is a form of art from a certain point on but most of peoples don't understand that. it's a thing you're born with, racing is a basic need that your entire body craves for and it's pretty painful when you don't have the means to fill it. by the way, this is a relaxed way of driving, I like this at Röhrl, always brings spectacular things for the car owner with full safety.
no i wasnt in the car whilst he was doing the lap time i got to sit in it when it was in the car park before you go onto the ring. Also i met a lead engineer at porsche who introduced me to walter, you can see him in a official gt2 video by porsche
It's not in my habits to comment a video but holy shit, this one is maybe the best I've seen so far. A God behind the wheel of one of the best modern sports car, around the most challenging track of the world. You're incredibly lucky, and after reading so much about this triple perfection (driver, car and track) I understand your outstanding feeling of happiness.
Sorry for my evenutal mistakes, in France we're not exactly prepared to speak foreign languages in order to express ourselves :x
this is timed from bridge to bridge, which is how we time it whenever the straight is not open. the straight takes about 20 seconds at full throttle. so this would be about 7:45 for the entire lap.
7.45 is quite good with two people inside, a magazine (dont remember which) tested the new gt3 at 7.39, amazing time for a 440 ps, very close to beasts like zr1
Walter Röhrl, the driver, no, cancel that, the legend!!, said that the tires weren't working amymore. He said he could not push harder. He funny. A funny man he is!! He could not push, but he was doing 260 at Schwedenkreuz. He real funny.
Great Video, shaolinwolf2009. It must be a honour, to take a ride in the best car for track racing with a living legend behind the sterring wheel. I'm looking forward for your next videos
And I forgot to say - FANTASTIC VIDEO - thanx for uploading .!

I was thinking the same thing while he was going through wehrseifen: he was on the gas pedal before the turn??!!!!??
I would be on the brakes stabilizing my car, where he finds the time to accelerate again... :-)
