is it normal for the fan to run on 12v all the time? my xbox fan is noisy as hell and it didn't use to run this fast. i opened my xbox, unplugged the fan, took a multimeter to each of the 4 prongs and got a reading of 12v dc between 2 of them. is this normal, and how can it be fixed?? please help me!!!!!
those nidecs suck!, "theyre the best because theyre quiet" yeah well so is a dead xbox, delta rules, find me better fans i dare you! (that are comparable)
Delta DC Brushless have a way better airflow, that's right and it will take longer to get a RRoD or none. The only downside is the annoying whining sound.
mine dont whin t all, at full speed (when the 360 starts up some times) all youll hear is airflow, which is allot better than hearing no airflow if you ask me, the niceds sound horrible also how were these powered?, i hooked my fans up to a usb lead so when i turn the 360 off i can plug them into the usb ports which are still on and the fans dont spin as fast/as loud as they normally are on the dashboard (still good though), got the drive is loud sometimes though lol
@you900001 what do you do? you should add a 2nd gen heatsink to your GPU, thermal pads under the board if necessary, and pickup an talismoon whisper max fan.
just add a remote variable resister and bingo!, and the problem i see with the idec fans is the blade pitch is too shallow and the centeres are too big leaving very little room for the blades, anyone know of a good replacement (not whipser fans im not dumb enough to fall for marketing and bright lights)

I have the Nidec fans. Thank goodness, the Delta fans would drive me crazy!
My Xbox 360 runs silent as a mouse. Good on you MS for using the NIDEC FANS :)

@The1Antonio1 but the Nidec fans give less airflow and you have a better chance of getting RROD

how are the deltas compared to the old sunon fans,in the matter of sound(My sunons are fuckin loud) and do they blow through more air?
I know i have to modify the deltas connector(i need 4 pins) but if it would make this bitch shut up id give it a try.

id rather take 12v, i dont care about the noise i just dont RRoD

Yes,but that only means the 5v are spinning at a slower speed so not getting rid of enough hot air

I think 8V would be ideal. If only.

i second that but more realisticly 9v

Actually 10.5 gives a nice balance - it's much quieter than 12v. I got 10.5 using a 9v/10.5v/12v switch - see my vids for info.
