  • i have the stainless version, homeless man's sebenza

  • i have the stainless version, almost a homeless man's sebenza

  • I'm probably going to be lynched for saying this but the stainless one reminds me of the Sebenza.

  • These knives are made in Taiwan. I have an m-16 desert folder, it was "cool" when I got it, but they would never issue these to a soldier. They are complete junk. If you want a real knife, you're going to pay for it, and it won't be made overseas..unless its Swedish or German. To those who buy and use a knife, look elsewhere. Great review, and I'm jot excited either.

P.S. case knives rule! Especially Pre-zippo buy out ones! Thanks and Gig 'Em!

  • Arrrgh, these have shot up to like 40 bucks.

  • Hey nutn, i just bought the drifter stainless and the blade opening is very stiff. I tried to loosen the pivot screw with a torx screwdriver but no matter how hard I turn the screwdriver, the screw won't budge. How do I get the pivot screw to turn and does this knife come from the factory with loctite already on the screw? I'm not sure what to do.

  • for those who think liner locks that are not as strong as frame locks think of knives like Emerson or Zero tolerance knives. respected and strong with a capital "S".

  • Man if I could get the stainless with nitride coated blade I would be all over it.

  • I think the question is.... CRKT Drifter Vs Kershaw Chill?!?

  • @1dducks Kershaw Chill is absolute garbage. If you want a cheap Kershaw with a similar design, spend a few bucks more and get the Skyline. It is better in every way, and is a nearly perfect knife. Get the Drifter too. They're both incredible, for different reasons.

  • Hey so The g10 is a linerlock and the stainless is a frame lock right?

  • @propcomicdoinyourmom yup. i think that's basically the same thing however. the liners are the frame and g10 are the grips even though the frame locks are thicker. i think that's more for comfort thank strength of the frame/lockup. i could be wrong. Nutn/Veri care too weigh in?

  • CRKT DRIFTER or KERSHAW SCAMP?

  • @thefatmanmx Drifter, for sure.

  • The Sanrenmu 707 is exactly the same knife for under 10 dollars.Built in the same factory.

  • Wish I got this.knife where nutnfancy got it. I got mine for $30 at a retail store.

  • Got one and it's very nice and very very solid.

  • I got a Drifter after this video, lost it in the bush a couple of weeks ago, and ordered another one (both G10). I just wanted to note here that unlike the first knife this latest one was wickedly sharp out of the box.

I'm so in love with these little knives, I just wish they made a version high-visibility handles.

  • This knife is definately on my short list!!

  • should i get the liner lock version or the frame lock verion?

  • 17 dollars. That's less money than grocery shoppings.

  • Thanks very much for this review! ...

  • I bought one of these as a cheap gift for a friend as a first knife for $13 on ebay. I liked it so much I ordered another one for myself. I got the stainless version and absolutely love it, very well made for being so cheap i couldnt believe it. it has a positive feeling in the hand and is a very timeless look imo. i love a lot of crkt knives ik nutnfancy doesnt and he's right it is personal opinion but thanks for the great reviews, i finally understand now what makes a good knife

  • Just won this knife in a contest from ColinOutdoors, go check his channel out if you haven't already, awesome dude and great vids that TNPers will like!

Did a search in Youtube to see if there were any reviews of my win and I got another prize - Nutnfancy has a review! Hah, thanks Nutn.

  • Seriously y'all, the Drifter is a steal. This review presents it perfectly. Simple knife, 1 clip position, no fancy lock or special features, but it is well made of decent materials. The G-10 feels great (and is preferable to the stainless handle version).

8Cr14MoV is a nice blade steel for this type of knife. Sharpens up well even with my p.o.s sharpening system.

Overall a perfect small "beater" & travel knife. It's the only folder under $20 that I would EDC (and sometimes do!). Word.

  • I picked two of these up a few weeks ago. One with G10 handle and serrations, the other was the SS version I gave to my son. I have no complaints, it's a great knife. Perhaps CRKT changed their minds since you made this vid, but mine was hair shaving and paper slicing sharp out of the box. My only complaints are the one sided clip (I'm a lefty) and on the G10 version I noticed the thumb grooves are somewhat covered by the handle material. Those are minor complaints though.

  • I was checking out CRKT's survival knives..Looking for something for camping/hiking/backpacking and was wondering if your think they're okay? Trying to find a compromise between inexpensive and good quality and hopefully some of the CRKT's fit the bill. Well I guess the "Ultima" isn't that cheap haha but if it's good, I would probably would go with it.

  • I love the way the stainless steel version looks

  • I've looked at this knife and thought about buying one. Glad I didn't because today one of my suppliers came through my office handing out the stainless version with his company logo laser etched on the side. SCORE! Razor sharp out of the box. (I guess CRKT watched your video Nutn.) What a solid little EDC knife this is.

  • @reaganherman What a totally cool gift!!! -- Veri

  • @reaganherman God, you're lucky. I'd love to get a custom laser-etched version.

  • Hi nutnfancy ive been watching your videos for sometime now and you have helped me choose some of the best knives ive ever owned. So now i need a cheap edc andi cant decide between the crkt drifter and the kershaw skyline both lightweight nice edc knives if you could give a responces that would help me out alot thanks

  • @rageshift Hiya Rage...Nutn says Skyline, hands down. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy thanks a bunch for such a quick responces..keep up the good videos

  • @rageshift Glad to help =) -- Veri

  • Hi nutnfanfancy ive been watching your videos for sometime now and they have helped me decide on some of the knives i got.Like the spyderco ender 4 ffg,s.o.g. flash 2 and cold steel recon 1 all three of those knives are some of the best knives ive ever owned, but now i need a cheap light weight blade and i cant decide between the crkt drifter or the kershaw skyline .If you could leave a responce that would be awesome ...keep up the good reveiws

  • haha i was at whole sale sports for my birthday and i had gotten a m16 03z and i was walkin around and saw the bear grylls mini scout for 15 bucks bought it and then went back to the knife counter and saw the stainless version for the same price..needles to say i got my money back and got that one instead

  • Hi I got the CRKT "Skeeter" and it is a superb knife. It has the lock on the back made out of the exact same steel as the blade making the lock tight and safe. Great knife. I wouldn't mind that G-10 though :)

  • I want the Stainless version! lol Looks similar to a Sebenza.

  • what do you guys ultimately recommend? g10 or stainless?

  • @baphomet58

I have both and I really like the G10 handle better. The SS feels solid, but the G10 gives a great non-slip grip.

  • Just got this knife for $14.40.

  • Have been carrying it for a few months now and i absolutely love it, super small, lightweight and cheap!

  • I have had my CRKT drifter 2 years and carry it daily on and off duty. It is and awesome little knife!

  • I got one of each of these little beauties but I find the stainless version a little tight to open as compared to the fast opening G10. I've come close a few times to slipping off the thumb stud and running my thumb up the blade but like many of my CRKTs they both came quite dull so I've escaped cuts. Any ideas as to how I can get it to open smoother? I think it's the tightness of the framelock against the blade that is causing the resistance.

  • tip down only

  • I just bought the g10 version because i had an American express $25 dollar gift card. Thanks nutn I can't wait until it arrives in the mail!

  • about time nutn did another crkt review. you know nutn is for real because he even reviews stuff that he personally doesnt like.

  • the sharpness issue i dont believe can be helped. today i got a drifter and a recon 1 and after using the drifter all day it is still sharper than the cold steel knife out of the box. the drifter is wicked fast and the stainless frame lock holds up quite well.

  • THIS KNIFE IS SO FAST! i went to a knife dealer and they thought it was a auto!

  • Hahaha, the description specifically says "razor sharp."

  • This comment is not in reference to this video, but I was wondering if you could make a video about how to tell the difference between genuine CRKT and the counterfeit clones. I have been burned in the past by fakes and would like to know the signs to look for to tell the difference before buying.

    Many Thanks Nutnfancy!

  • just got mine today.i had to settle with the combo edge =( but i still like it a lot. it came shaving sharp outta the box btw.

  • @85wifebeater Learn English, then learn grammer and then learn how to spell. Maybe then we can talk. Troll.

  • @85wifebeater So, if all else is acceptable and you like the knife sharpen it. Sooner or later you'll need to anyway. Besides this review is about the Drifter not the other ones you mentioned.

  • Anyone know were I can get a look at a goodchart for the differences in types of steel like the one nutn shows in the vid at 5.30???

  • I just got my stainless Drifter today, and LOVE IT!

Thanks for the awesome review, Nutnfancy!

  • There's a lot of liner lock knives that I like but I've also had a few wear out. After a while it gets rubbed down so its not as tight and you get some blade play

  • Got one today, and i like it very much, replaces my k.i.s.s., they did something about the sharpness, it comes very sharp now.

  • Comment removed

  • my dad got this knife from his work with the logo company on it, blue mountian minerrals.he gave it to me and i absolutly love it .thnx for the vid nice job like always nutnfancy

  • my last CRKT is in the hands of a cop! a few months ago i was bored at the train station so i started throwing my blade at a tree while i was all alone. apparently there was some meddling worrywart watching from some window a BLOCK away, an old lady probably, who called the cops on me! the cop was a fucking loser rookie who promised me i could have a cigarette "in a few min." but he ended up driving me to vanjail where he was confused re: process and he denied me water and i called him a faggot

  • can someone tell me hows the blade to handle ratio.

    please someone get back.

  • how often do you buy knives ?

  • Drifter eh? Does it come with a free homeless guy? Not really sure why you would want one, but it seems appropriate somehow...

  • @Spectre426 It's a good knife for the price...

  • why is there a detent in the frame of the stainless version on the scale with the lock? ive seen this on almost all frame lock knives but what is it for?

  • @TheTobyKing i think its just so it flexes easier when you unlock it

  • Great! Ill be buying another knife....

  • I know you gave it a 7/10, but I have to say... this knife represents absolute perfection for a small folder. I have no complaints whatsoever. None. Add to its perfection the fact that it's $20, and it's just the perfect high-value beater folder. I actually like the Stainless version a lot more. At this size, a knife is desperate for some heft so it can actually feel good in your hand, and a plastic handle isn't going to cut it.

Best $20 I ever spent. I'll probably buy a couple more.

  • Bought the stainless version of this engraved by you Nutnfancy from PFIdude love it thanks for the review

  • By the way, I bought CRKT Drifter after watching this review. My stainless steel version shocked me with its toughness, wear resistance and ergonomics. I never liked small folders but this is an exception:) Thanks Nutnfancy;)

  • LOVE CRKT for the money!

  • Where do you learn how to correctly sharpen a knife?

  • @Supermassively Knife sharpening camp. Ages 5 - 10. Chances are, you missed your opportunity.

  • @Martyr9991 Damn. :(

  • Got the Drifter and love it, only problem is that it did come out of the box a little on the dull side.

  • only whites carry knives , lations and black carry their pride and balls

  • @anchor213 I don't think so kid. I've seen a lot of mexicans with knives.

  • @anchor213 i guess they carry racism as well

  • @SADCRYINGDOLFIN yes they do look at arizona

  • @SADCRYINGDOLFIN The word "racism" was invented by the jewish communist Trotsky for the purpose of slandering any white who dared to stray off the communist/socialist plantation. IE Ad Hominem attack. It has now been so overused that it has lost it's power. Welcome to 2010 and argue facts instead of calling names

  • @00McBragg Yeah, sounds like the Liberals insulting the Tea Party members. The Left really enjoys using words whose meaning they don't seem to understand, in order to attack someone who has contrary views: "fascist", "Nazi", "racist", "homophobe".

  • Have one. Love it.Wish I would have gotten the G10 handle though. I will say it rusted quite quickly however

  • Have one. Love it.Wish I would have gotten the G10 handle though.

  • ebay has the all silver one for $15 with free shipping :)

  • u should do a review on a crkt m16 knife. pretty cool looking knife.

  • 16 mins for a 17 dollar knife. Thats almost a dollar a minute.

  • @locknloadvideo Some of us prefer nutn's full length vids over the 11 second jobs so many folks post. I guess it's all about attention spans.

  • i absolutely love this knife, love the looks of it, it's sharp, and built superb!

  • Awesome vid

You could engrave the aluminum version and give it away!!??

    Thumbs up if you agree!!

  • its a high hollow grind

  • i know its not even close to the same quality but the stainless blade remines me of the Chris Reeves Sabenza

  • Can you unscrew the thumbstud? Kind regards

  • i have the m16-14 tanto blade; for around nine years now and it is still going strong. the blade doesnt wobble and the geometry on the blade edge is shallow after years of sharpening. where the 'kissaki' or tip, meets the rest of the blade the knife has lost its sharp transition but has rounded into a still sharp edge. this knife is very rugged and very sharp with a beefy blade.

  • very similar to the crkt pazoda, another high value edc i think. ive had one for over 2 years now using every day at work, and its never failed me once. Great review as always Nutn', keep at it!

  • @TheSOGDog No the case is not included, no the liners are not drilled out. But it is still relatively light.

  • If you like the Drifter, try a couple of knives from SanRenMu - they're the Chinese OEM that made the original version (the version in this video)

  • my names is carson

  • @TheSOGDog not to jump to conclusions here but i dont think it would have fit in that little brown box. but i could be wrong

  • If you have time, take another look at the CRKT K.I.S.S knife. Low cost, high value, with unique spartan design. Light weight too.

  • it's kinda funny the way you said YARN

  • I totally agree with his opinions on the CRKT blades, I have the same catalog and there were only 3 knives i liked the drifter the Dozer and the ultima Series, The CRKT ultima 2007 6.75" is the best tactical fixed blade i have ever had the handle is "welded" to your hand in any carry position and the blade came Scalpel sharp out of box it took a 3 layer of skin fillet out of my forearm when i tried to do the shave test, But that knife i got for $23 on ebay but i think $65 is still a steal

  • ok nutn..were can i find the true deffination of switchblade or gravity blade, cuase i got a push button "spring assit" but told its illgeal?? seriously any knife anymore is spring assited or speed asisted

  • @503armyguard if you have to push the blade to open it, its not a switchblade. a switchblade will have a button or lever that releases the blade

  • i overpaid for my drifter - $30 - but at least mine cut hair when you rubbed it on your leg

  • Hey nutn, would you say this or the tenacious?

  • @scargill8 don't know if you care to hear my take, but they're both nice knives. The biggest difference being the drifter is way smaller, so the Spyderco Persistence would be a closer comparison imo. But I tend to like bigger blades so I'd go with the tenacious, but the drifter is on my wish list.

  • It' smaller in person than it seems in the video.

  • Nutn hit ebay for a CRKT Apache they have the BEST jimping if sharper than hell also it uses ATS-34 and it's fully serrated and the serrations rock about 50.00

  • Arrrgh! Someone actually used the blade of my knife as a screwdriver today. I flipped my lid.

  • should I get this or the Kershaw skyline?

  • @minipulate400016 i had the same question when i was watching this review.

i have the drifter stainless right now and it is great. i have not used the skyline yet but i think i will pick one up in a week or two.

  • @mastersniper13 ok thanks get back to me on that.

  • @minipulate400016 i have a skyline and its beast but this one is cheaper and ya

  • Hey Veri why is there a camo sheath there?

  • Been carrying this knife every day for over a year and it's still working really well. Blade still locks very solidly, clip still solid as well. Doesn't rip up my pocket and easy to sharpen.

Will probably get another just in case I lose this knife (surprised I haven't already).

  • guys, help me to decide :) CRKT drifter or Kershaw Skyline

  • @jankrix drifter. stronger lock, if u get the steel handeld drifter.

  • Haha, Nutn would appreciate this....since he likes aggressive jimping so much. I was doing a cut test with my Spyderco Tenacious the other day and actually cut my thumb open on the jimping! that's how sharp it is....

  • love this knife!

  • What do you think of the crkt natural large version?

  • regarding pivot pin lock tight great idea! done it for years but i have a brush-okie fix if you don't have lock tight.simple tooth-paste old soldier showed me that one in ordnance shop, long ago and far away works handily recommend wd40 when removing though

  • Got one.

Can't imagine there is a better knife for the same or lower price.

  • (1990prodigy) I own 2 ignitors. Used them on and off my duties (Crime Response Team). A good EDC knife, but not for that tactical purpose. Still a very good buy for EDC. Recommended the 2-tone version. Good vid here.

  • Hey Nut ! Thanks for all the reviews anyway, but not because of that you become a'' stuckup'' one, You think you all that when you say ''...because of me talking about jimping and now everyone do that !.." Wow Alot of people don't like the way u talk like that! And U R NOT THE FIRST ONE talking about jimping so be humble Nut !!! YOU NOT THE ONE KNOW KNIFE AND EDUCATED TOO !!! be better next time!

  • I own this knife and it's not a great knife. It's okay. I wish I'd bought a second Cara Cara instead.

  • drifter is now thirty lame

  • @TheSagesDog if youre gonna spend that much, get the Kershaw Skyline. g10 grip, nice blade, tang on the back.

  • Wow, that is a nice little blade for the price. I would've probably bought this back when I was looking but I settled on a Boker Plus Trance which I like.

TIP: Don't run your finger on your knife ever...test it on something else. Ask me how I know...(D'oh!)

  • Thanks for the review, kinda helped me in getting it on my list for things to buy (for sure i needed a new folder knife). Allthough here in belgium they look weird at u if u walk around with it on my belt.

I use a crkt kiss now because u can carry it nicely on your sweater, so can u do that with this one???

  • nutnfancy love the review!!! I recently just bought a crkt falcon its great now i need to buy the drifter great review like them all

  • please buy the crkt ignitor :] please o please. i own one and want to see wat others think of the quality of it

  • @1990prodigy How is it? I was considering getting one.

  • its nice. i got the plain edge. its kinda on the heavy side for u can feel the weight of it in ur pocket. but the lock is solid the safety is nice so it dosent open in ur back pack or jacket or pocket. holds a really nice edge with ceramics rods. or the bottom of a coffee cup haha. the opening mech is smooth and fast yet dosent wisk the blade so fast it moves ur hand.

  • love the blade shape where can i buy it?5/5 thank you!

  • i dare you to run your finger on the other one...

  • Pretty good knife for the price. Lock up is rock solid with no play. My only gripes are the tip down carry, and weak blade retention in the closed position (at least on my knife). I just don't feel as safe reaching into my pocket with a blade tip that might be sticking out of the handle, so I probably won't be walking around with this one very often.

Overall though, a nice value buy. Would make a great little gift item, especially the stainless version.

  • amazing vid man and great cheaper knife.

  • a good knife, a very well thought-out shape of the blade, a good steel and low price. We have more than it sells OEM products under the brand SRM for 10 USD, absolutely all the same except for color blade, he colors COMO (2 colors) and the logo is not CRKT DRIFTER, and SRM 707. I have 2 SRM 707 and 2 CRKT DRIFTER

  • I might pick one up....Although the crkt ignitor is great Nutn fancy review the ignitor.Good looking blade

  • do not lke tip down.

  • @TheBuffaloChicken It is a $17 knife.

  • Hey nutn, why plain edge?

  • @KingWixo That is what he prefers.

  • Comment removed

  • My wife keeps a CRKT Carson in her purse (among other deadly things).

Don't mess with her ... he! he!

  • Too bad the G10 one didnt have the frame lock.

  • I like to get a drifter. Is it possible to drill extra holes easily on the liners for moving the clip to another side? Im a car mechanic, so i can do it, but im not that much into knifes.

  • the drifter i purchased was extremely sharp. i learned this by accident

  • @eestiofusa14 haha, nice

  • @eestiofusa14 mine too

  • @eestiofusa14 did you get it at ycs?

  • @FunkkkShawn no i got it at a sporting goods place called dicks

  • Any lefties try this knife? I'm a lefty, and would like to hear about lefty's experience with the Drifter(s).

  • @neurad1 Not a lefty but when I carry it in my left pocket I have to kind of twist my hand to get it out and it doesn't open as quickly. Usually I grab it with my index finger gripping the side facing the pocket and my thumb grabbing the clip. When trying to open it the clip kind of gets in the way of my thumb and I can't always just flick it open.

  • Comment removed

  • @neurad1 Im not lefty, but I think there is very big chance that its more friendly in use for lefties than right-handed person:)

  • just bought a 14k summit mt. rainier G10 ......only 24 bucks!!!!!!!

  • got the same knife. black/blue color scheme. love it

  • im gonna get this one

  • I received the knife as a gift and I now insist on carrying a knife everyday. I carry it in lieu of my leatherman wave, which would be nice but weighs a metric eff ton. Very light and practical - unlike a lot of carry knives. There is lighter, even int he CRKT line up, but the drifter is more than adequate.

  • I don't have many CRKT knives. Mostly a Spyderco/Benchmade/Kershaw kind of guy. But I have to say, this little $13 knife blew me away! Sometimes these little inexpensive knives, just like the Spyderco Persistence and the Benchmade Nagara, really make me say, "This thing really gets the job done this tool was designed to do." If you're just looking for a great small pocket knife, look no further. The edge may dull fairly quickly, but it's easy to maintain. Mine came RAZER sharp, unlike Nutn's.

  • where did you get it for 13 bucks?

  • you should get "NUTNFANCY" engraved on your stainless drifter.

  • I always love your reviews. I like longer reviews. don't you hate reviews that are like 2 min long, and its just him saying, "its a knife. it can cut stuff."

  • I've had one for a couple of months now. Great EDC knife at a great price.

  • does this knife have any blade play

  • wait is this a speed assisted

  • Its just an assisted opening knife, like a automatic or what people call switchblade, but legal since they are not activated with a button in the HANDLE, they just have a spring that helps kick out the blade when you activate it manually by pushing out the thumb studs.
