  • Yes, it did. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • :-)

  • It's good to see he had a nice retirement, and lived a long life. This story had a happy ending. John Henry strolling along in the sun......

  • Please upload all John Henry tribute videos as responses to our trailer. We want to create a condensed area of videos for all who admired John Henry to search through.

  • We have released a documentary about John Henry. He was a beautiful horse with a beautiful soul. He will be dearly missed. Check out our Youtube page for the trailer and the website for all other info at john henry movie. Lets not forget the inspiration he was for all who were fortunate enough to know him.

  • Aww what a gentleman c:

    He looked so peaceful.

  • Thanks for posting this video. John Henry was a family favorite. We visit the Horse Park every year just as the Rolex 3 day is ending and the week before the Derby. My 7 yo Grndtr will be very happy to see this video as she still talks about him running free in Heaven and literally fell apart last year when we happened upon his newly dug grave at the entrance of the Hall of Fame. If there ever was to be a bridge to "the 'other' talk" no nicer a guide than our John Henry.

  • Thank you. I couldn't agree more. I have always held him as one of my favorite all time boys, and used to go visit him every year there. We share the same birthday (although I'm slightly older:-), and one of the highlights of my life with horses has been seeing him in "person". I can't imagine how you all must have felt when you unexpectedly saw his resting place. What a wondrous, intelligent, creature he was!

  • i saw him twice at the park and he was so small but so graceful. but watching this video i realize he had giant withers

  • Thanks so much for this nice, quiet film clip. Even at advanced age, he carries himself with high class, and grace. Note how his walk is so smooth, and effortless. Dominant on turf in his day. I realize now how fortunate I was to have seen him in person twice in California race in the late 70's. An awesome individual. Thanks again.

  • Sorry, YouTube pulled the video as I am posting a more recent version of the "Legend of the Horse John Henry" and it should be here very soon.

  • I wrote "Legend of the Horse John Henry" just after hearing of his passing. It was a difficult task through a lot of tears. It is meant as a tribute to John in the best way I know how. What you see is a work in progress. BW

  • I was at Pony Club nationals last summer and I saw him there! He looked so peaceful.. I think two months later, I was on the KHP website and I read that John Henry had been put down! It was so weird to think that a horse I had once seen was now dead.. ;(

    RIP JOHN HENRY.

  • Thank you. I am happy to share and glad you enjoyed it. He was and is very special.

  • Thank John for the video :-) I was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. I had just visited him and was headed back to see Kathy when I saw him coming my way.

  • i got to see him about a week or so before he died he was a short horse and didn't move much but when he did he had a graceful swing to his stride and still had muscle and grace of a champ

  • It would be appreciated it all the John Henry fans of the world would post their memorable moments on the JohnHenryBlog. Since he passed away the blog has not received any comments. Please don't forget the legacy of the Champ! Thank you.

  • let john henry be with god and all is past race horses let god put peace on your sould RIP

  • God bless you John Henry. Enjoy your days of running free in the green pastures of Heaven! We will meet again John~John. XO

  • John

You'll always be my hero. You were one of a kind.

    Goodbye Buddy...RIP

  • what a great video...

to john: we miss you boy! camp will never be the same with out you...

  • It was an honor to be that close to him.

  • yes, we went to his memorial service today, adn they had his favorite doughnuts on his grave... it was really sad.

  • I watched on television. It was very sad, but it was wonderful that they planned this service. They've known for a very long time how truly special he is...even now.

  • That is a beautiful film.

    R.I.P John Henry

  • Thank you, Pamela. I had no idea at the time I filmed him that it would be my last visit with him (and that is not meant to sound selfish at all).

It is disheartening to know he's gone, but it is wonderful to know he was so well cared for and loved by so many.

I feel a heavy sadness for Cathy and his family at KHP in particular.
