Ive had mine on for a day so far! It is pretty painful, only with my upper teeth. Ive been taking 3 advil every 4-6 hours and its helping quite a bit. They already dont hurt as much as they did yesterday and im getting use to them pretty quickly! :)
I'm shopping around for braces and am considering invisalign..when do u start seeing results and is there a change in the way u talk when they're on cuz I don't wanna sound like daffy duck and last question how much do they cost?
@Raul1Silva I saw results on Day 1! I came home with the aligners in and my husband noticed right away that the space between my teeth was gone. You can definitely see changes within the first month or two. There really isn't any noticeable difference in the way I talk. Sometimes the "th" sound is hard as well as "f". But no one has ever mentioned that my speech sounded funny and I'm in front of clients every day. Cost varies. Mine were around $5K.
I am starting mine in a couple of weeks I am psyched just the pain I am nervous about cuz I heard its very tight and I will be on cranky mofo in the beginning I think atleast lol.
@BRONXPEPE Just take some Advil and you'll be fine. When you switch aligners do it at night before you go to bed. And take Advil before you make the switch. You can do it!
@CarterOrthodontics Thanks I am 11/28 trays down since I posted last wrote I am use to the pain I take motrin whenever I feel the pain is bad thanks for ur input.
Word of advice, when you put on new tray do it the night before. That way you sleep during the time of pain and by the time you wake up the trays are a hell of a lot easier to take off, especially if you have attachments.
@makemyownpath Yes, I definitely put them in at night before I go to bed. The most pain comes the next morning when I take them out to brush my teeth. And then when I put them back in again. It's momentary and it passes and Advil makes it manageable. Sometimes I get headaches after a new set of aligners or some jaw pain. Again, Advil works like a charm. Thanks for your suggestion!
@makemyownpath I agree. I put them in before I go to sleep and take a few Advil. There are sore in the morning but I've slept through most of it. By the next day it's a lot better.
I've got one question that i can't find ANYWHERE or maybe I'm not looking hard enough...anyways what do they do first to your teeth? I've always thought they straighin your teeth then give you they trays but I'm really stuped to think that...
@xDaXxXStrangexXxOnex The first thing they do is take impressions of your teeth. It's like a mold of your teeth. They use this to make a computerized model of your teeth which Dr. Carter uses to plan your treatment. Then they make the custom aligners. Each set of aligners is changed out after 2 weeks time. Each set makes a small adjustment to your teeth which over time makes a huge improvement to your smile. Does that answer your question?
@CarterOrthodontics I had my impressions several days ago and the dentist said it would take about a month to get my trays back. The receptionist said about 3 weeks. What is the typical time it takes to get them back? I have a 2 year supply that I have paid up front for, for everything. But I don't think they would give all of them to me at once. Do I pick up a few at a time for each month I go back for a checkup? Also, should I get a copy of the 3D animation showing my teeth shifting?
@jmr1068204 It does take a few weeks to get the aligners after the impressions are made. 3-4 weeks time is normal. They do not give them all to you at once. Depending upon your treatment plan, you go back every 6-8 weeks and then they give you your next set of aligners to last you until your next appointment. I took my Flip Camera and recorded the 3D animation. I'm not sure if they can give you a copy. Good luck!
It doesn't look too bad to get them in and out. It looks likes the pressure you have to use in getting them on might hurt though. It does sound better than braces and less painful. I had braces for a good while. I couldn't bite down on anything for about two weeks. I got mine at carter orthodontics too.
@SoraandKairidestined The first time I put a new set of aligners on, they do feel very tight. It takes a day or so for the soreness to go away. But the soreness is manageable with ibuprofen. They are tougher to get in and out the first day or two that I put a new set on, but after that it gets much easier. It is amazing the difference wearing Invisalign has made in just 3 months!

@BRONXPEPE It is sore but it really isn't that bad. Advil helps a lot and it's really only the first day or two that your teeth are sore.
