Hardcore funk at its best. Miss these guys and gals. I remember all the hot funk bands that played at the Cap Center. I was too young to see this particular show at the time so its cool to be watching it now.
When my brother and I were kids, we had the cassette to this. When I played at the rollerskating rink, we'd start to skate backwards and move our arms like we were swimming a backstroke. We thought the song was about swimming.
@TheFatbackBand you guys still tour? I gotta friend that's a fan from back in the day, if you ever make it out to NYC, well, send a lead to the address below and let me know your schedual.
askdocmu(at)hotmail(dot)com or send me a PM on my youtube account. Me an friends dig tha funk, we try to see George C whenever we can, but other hardcore funk bands are well appreciated these days.
Thanks xtarheelinuthah! I was thinking this flavor could only originate with Dirty South folks. I didn't think it could only be NY peeps. The Deep South. . . We got problems, but beautiful musics! Woo! the era of gold sparkly vests without irony. Killing me. This Da Funk!!! Ain't no funk without some Southern.
I can not believe this there is video of the Fatback Band!! I'm about to tell 100 people they wont believe me. Who's **** I got to suck to get a copy of this. This the super jam. I'll wash your dishes for a whole week and I hate to wash dishes. This was a #3 jam in 1980, but #1 in my hood. Help a brotha out PLEASE!!! Get Down Fellas-Lady's too!
@warnerbenjaminj Fatback originated from North Carolina, out of Fayetteville. The members are still around today.
Unfortunately, one of them (I forget his name, the shartest member of the group), was assaulted and robbed (in 2009) at his electronics repair shop he own and operates out of Kings Mountain, NC (35 minutes southeast of Charlotte, NC)
Their best track. I think it came out in '80 with the Hot Box LP. Got to jam this when ya stuck in the traffic and everything will just be so much better. Allright ladies!
You are soooo right!!!! You know when you had it on your other page, I told you I almost HURT myself at World on Wheels when I first heard it. They are the TRUTH by FAR.
