Traditional songs like this don't sometimes say who wrote it. This song goes back before the 1930's. By now it has been changed some and no one person holds the rights to the song. That's why soooo many people have done the song, but Dylan did it before The Animals. Eric Burden does just have the appeal and does it great.

@joetubealong If you read Dave Davies' (lead guitarist and founder of the KINKS) autobiography, you'ds know the Beatles didn't really like too many other groups or musicians and Eric Burdon was a hard one to get along with even if you liked him. I don't think this was a swipe at the Animals as much as it was just them playing around and having fun in the studio.

Pepper, AND Abbey Road sessions and it'll make anything the animals did in the studio seem like child's play. @kedrickclarke No one could touch the Animals' version.They often paid tribute to artists & songs they liked,as they're doing here.I think it helped them de-stress from the pressure on them too...But,skills?..Dont forget they did ALL of their early stuff (prob. 3/4 of their released songs)on 2-track tape...1 track for the live performance,the other for harmony,handclaps,etc...with no splicing. EMI only did it that way then. I'd say they were as skilled as the Animals.

If you look at Paul at 2:18 thats prob. the most muscle I've ever seen him with. That may have been the period when he was living on that farm somewhere in the U.K and did a lot of the work himself. He had the makings of a pretty good physique if he would have stayed with it. I know that he lived on a farm and was almost dead broke when the Beatles broke up and all their money got frozen during lawsuits. This is when he was with Linda, and I guess they really barely scraped by. Interesting.
