Very nice. Everybody does this kata slightly different, so the things I tell my students to consider are: The "yoi" stance, fingers should be closed. This is a block, and open fingers = broken fingers. The Jodan block, make this higher and angled. A downward blow would come through a block too close to the head, and if too flat, the block would not deflect as effectively. The fist doing the gedan block should be slightly upturned, as this is a groin strike also, as per the bunkai. Nice kata
@pampermanneke Well, the zenkutsu-dachi is the way I was taught and the way I have come to believe is most beneficial. Perhaps you can post a video of yourself doing the kata so that I can see what you mean.
@pampermanneke Okay, I see, Shotokan uses many different principles that are not seen in Goju-ryu (long Zen kutsu for example) so it looks like you are comparing apples and oranges, and no you don't need to post your own kata but if someone has suggestions for what I am doing I like to know their experience and level; it gives the comment credibility.
@TenguMonk So far gekisai ichi & ni, saifa, Seiyunchin. We will eventually have all of the Goju kata on DVD. You can see them on our website online store at gojukaratecenter . com. Thanks for the positive feedback.
This is fantastic nice and slow to begin with to help me practice in the week.
My 13 year old son has just started this style , I am going to join him but I have not done this since I was 14 haha now 45 very unfit and fatter haha, OMG .
Also back from spinal injury , regardless you have helped our practise, hard to find nice instructional video .
@HIGHSTANDARDSPINTOS I am glad it is helpful. This is an abridged version of the instructional DVD, a number of details are not included here. Let me know if you are interested in getting the full DVD. Good luck to your son (and yourself) in your training.

@GKCgoju well,i think your zenkutsu dachi is not deep enough and you should put a little more force to it (just to help)
