Awesome music, lyrics and cinematography... But what fantastic editing work here in this video!! Wow its a lot more modern and creative than anything I have seen in recent times!! This whole video is a masterpiece in every way.
Oh man..just taking back me to my teen ages - and amazing is it sounds great till today. As sagittarian82 said this song is still relevant and sounds great than today's crap music. We are lucky guys....
chanceless raja sir composition ... wat a brilliant music can hear this song continuously for more than 10000000000000000000000000000000............. times.. i love this song most and most no one can replace this song .. and madhavi looks great:) lovely heart melting composition
It has been 30 years since this song was released. Are you kidding me? Sounds more modern than anything released this year and will continue to be. Genius unparalleled anywhere in the world.
Hats off to illayaraja sir I hail from kerala...i dont know how to shower respect and prayers for him...The legend knows what he is doing...Of all the while no padmashree for raja sirr...It's sheer pity....
I was driving the other day and humming the TVG part again and again and i suddenly noticed something. Even though Raaja sir wants you to think he is introducing a streak of indian classical there, but if you listen to it deeply you will notice that they are all western notes. Yup, TVG is humming all western notes (full notes) but the fact that TVG is singing it fools you.You can play that part in a keyboard and not miss a note ! :)
@ideaflashed : I will have to carefully play and write it one note at a time before i miss it. :) Raaja's songs are easy to listen but very very very hard to reproduce....
Wat a song!...even though I do not understand Tamil, this is one funky number which I love listening always, Illayaraja...what can be said about this undisputed maestro...every song is a masterpiece!!
I was very depressed then I searched for some illayaraja songs, I ended up listening some of the old songs..I literally cried after listening his songs.... Hats to him..
@murugesanarun - Basically, IR's music has brought out what you had been trying to supress within you, which otherwise would have piled up more and more within your heart and lead to insane thoughts. I can fully empathize, because I have experienced the same, not too long ago.
I am coming back to this song after a few years.. Man it tugs you. Listen how funky the song is. Its almost like the guitars are drunk and having a lot of fun. Mix in indian humming in the interludes. Its almost chaos in the interludes, every form of music competing to be noticed and then the song starts and then melody reigns supreme giving it a floating feeling and this process repeats. Bass lines being the security guard here who is keeping everything under control.
Ilayaraja is beyond genius. He is once in ages happenstance. It brings chills to think that i grew up with his music just as he was bringing out various colors of his music. I am truly blessed.
What a song .... Whata Lyricss.......Amazingly Superb !! Only One person in this world can do these wonders in composition, and Keep it evergreen for all generations - THE ONE & ONLY ILLLAYARAJA - The GOd of Music
IR is the most underrated composer ever in the world's music history. This is true. Because his compositions were targeted only to native speakers of Tamil, Telugu and other South Indian languages for the most part of his career.
I am a big fan of Raja myself and personally feel that Raja's music is the best. To me, he is India's Bach and hasn't got the recognition he deserves. However, Rahman is definitely not over-rated. Anyway, why do we need to bring Rahman into a discussion on Raja's songs?
"honestly, does anybody really feel "Jai ho" is any better in comparison to these masterpieces? well O.R rehman has all the exposure. O R as in over rated !"
well these masterpieces were not released in 2008 and were not for English movies. I do feel that "Jai Ho" was still not the best but it was one of 3 songs nominated for the Oscars and won it because the jury liked it.
O.R. Rehman eh? Well, to each his own. Majority think he is good and that is what matters.
honestly, does anybody really feel "Jai ho" is any better in comparison to these masterpieces? well O.R rehman has all the exposure. O R as in over rated !
Simply unbelievable! This is so funky ! Just listen to the wonderful basslines. I am deeply impressed. I am new to Ilayaraja's music. Can someone recommend any of his retro funk compositions of such kinds plz? Thanks !
Ilaiyaraja's brilliant. Whenever chennaiites, currently at 30 yrs of age, look back at life as a set of associations, Ilaiyaraja would always be on the top 5.
You are very right. Ilayaraja is a part and parcel of many peoples' lives. He is sure to be in the Top 5 of many people. He is beyond awards. Fans of Ilayaraja can create an award in honour of him. That would be the best thing for such a grrrrrrrreat genius.
TV Gopalakrishnan humming in the song is awesome. Raaja's early attempt to fuse classical with western orchestration and its such a treat because all this happens in the middle of a such a melodious song.
Raja sir's musical transitions was awesome, the way he changed the tunes...proves he is the legend of Music forever ♥
