  • @wb5197 You can, but do a little bit at a time, as blenders are not as powerful as food processors ;)

  • David i am just wondering why sometimes recipes call for water in egg wash and sometimes they call for milk. Just wondering ;)

  • @MrButterworth24 Usually it's egg and milk - some people prefer to use water as they believe milk is fattening, but given the small amount of milk its hardly something to worry about ;)

  • @acf870 boil the sausages first? when rolling in the pastry, can i add spices? wont the sausage be overcooked?

  • @TheLittleMiss25 yeah cooked sausages, doesnt matter how u cook it but make sure its cold before you wrap it with pastry. puff pastry normally demands high temps so its kinda like flash reheating the sausage. i dont think its possible to overcook it like tht. also, spices should already be in your favourite sausage. i LOVE adding mustard, chutney or cheese when rolling them.

    oven til puff pastry is done and

    golden but is that long enough

    to cook the meat? The meat

    doesn't look cooked through.

    It still looks raw.

  • @buttafly312 The meat looks raw because of the tomato sauce. I assure you it's fully cooked. Each roll only has a small amount of meat in it, so it doesn't take long to cook ;)

  • @buttafly312 As the meat is in small amounts in the roll it will cook through 

  • Mmm can you add cheese to these as well? Maybe some parmesan. I'm obsessed with cheese. :P

  • @HomemadeCafe You sure can. Either add the cheese to the meat mixture, or sprinkle grated cheese on the pastry before putting the meat logs on ;)

  • i am in the usa and i have made almost the same thing, with and without the pastry. i now use shredded cheese instead of carrots and yellow mustard instead of ketchup/tomato sauce. of course, it's illegal to mix ketchup with pork in my family.

  • Hi One Pot Chef, just a quick question, how did the onions turn out? as i noticed you did not cook them before hand in a fry pan so i wondered how they turned out in the sausage roll.

  • @MissArianrhod They were lovely. Because they were chopped up small, they take no time to cook in the oven. Of course you can pre-cook them in a fry pan before hand if you wish, but it's really not necessary. Enjoy ;)

  • I don't know if I can eat this, but fuck it when I hit party time I should give this a shot. I've lost over 40 pounds and soon to be 50 pounds on my diet hence my nervousness. (I can eat what I want, but it's a calorie counting diet so I either have to do hardcore exercise or duck out the whole day if I eat extreme like say a baconator for a meal.)

  • @Makron5 You can always make this healthier by using lean chicken meat instead of sausage mince. There are also low fat puff pastries available in the supermarket freezer. You can also add more vegetables if you like ;)

  • i don't eat this stuff since i'm a veg but you may want to make a dipping sauce with it.

  • @deadroo In the United States, the term "pigs in a blanket" often refers to hot dogs, or breakfast/link sausages wrapped in biscuit dough, pancake, or croissant dough, and baked. The dough is sometimes homemade, but canned dough is most common.

  • @fezan84 I would use a lean ground beef, and run it through the food processor to ensure there are no big lumps. Sounds tasty ;)

  • @boppzz They're not raw, the tomato sauce / ketchup adds colour to the meat. And the pastry did puff up and went flakey. What more do you want?
