  • Thanks for your comments on Wire Foxes. Its fun to read about others experiences with them. Teddy's isn't a kisser. He does have a sweet side to him that we all love. He is sort of independent, meaning he is not needy. He loves the dog park.

  • No worries. Teddy doesn't do this anymore. It was just a short phase that he went through. Yes, he can play rough with not only the kids but with us too. Yes has torn some clothing. When he plays rough we tell him nice, be nice and it's so cute because we can tell that he really tries to be more gentle in playing. He is just so sweet. But yes, can get out of control with playing and we have to tell him No and settle him down and somtimes that might mean to go outside because he is so wound up.

  • Wire Haired Foxes are sport hunting dogs.

If you hired them to hunt rodents or foxes, they would gleefully do so from sunrise to sundown, and all times in between.

They live to (and were breed to)

chase, attack, and pounce, so if they seem "wound up", that is their normal state, if they were calm, it would be abnormal.

The main thing is to teach them boundaries, and redirect their energy and mischief into fun but not destructive activities.

    They also love to kiss

    -on the mouth.

  • It's adorable, but you will need to train that behaviour out of the dog. Wire Fox's are notorious clothing attackers- you want to teach them what they can and cannot chew. Also, Wire's can be too much for young kids to handle, so the Fox needs to know that kids are not target practice for hunting small animals. I'm sure your Fox loves the little boy, the Fox just needs to use "Kid Gloves".
