I believe that Gandhi overcame the sectarianism that divide religions. For him, the truth of the Gita and the Christian Gospel is in humans, when it negates the ego and eliminates their vices and bad habits that internal struggle of every human being, as described in the Mahabharata. Pakistan's fantastic military probably calculated that Kashmir can be wrested back from India just as the Soviets were defeated in Afghanistan - of course, this has spectacularly backfired and I think ultimately this calls for a shift in regional strategy. If Pakistan wasn't created, I doubt Jihadism would ever emanate from South Asia.

I wish to not presume that you have failed to grasp Gandhi's message. What is unique about India as a country, is that it is peopled by diverse groups under one dominion. It is the creation of division (caused by prejudice, jealousy, revenge) which creates the ignorant suggestion of labeling a nation a "terrorist state". It's a real tragedy that the two jewels of India have been divided. Gandhi believed in man's potential for selfless service toward others--compassion.

@carolinaindian Well, I would blame that squarely on Indo-Pakistani relations, the refusal of either side to accommodate each others' concerns. Pakistan's fantastic military probably calculated that Kashmir can be wrested back from India just as the Soviets were defeated in Afghanistan - of course, this has spectacularly backfired and I think ultimately this calls for a shift in regional strategy. If Pakistan wasn't created, I doubt Jihadism would ever emanate from South Asia.

Bhagat Singh was a communist fanatic. He wanted to overthrow the British rule, which is good. But he also wanted in it's place a system which was far worse. The administrative system, government and armed forces would be messed up today if Bhagat Singh had his way, India would have been in the list of pseudo communist failed states like North Korea, USSR and Cuba.

No I dont agree with it. First of all Bhagat Singh was not communist, He was Socialist, There is a difference, and he would never had his way. He was just a part of the extremist movement. which the brits easily crushed, unlike Gandhi, for which they have no answer to.

He was also a poet, an essayist, an opthalmologist, a sculptor, a flute player, a naturalist, a music composer, can speak in 10 different languages fluently, and has dealt with expertise with other fields. He was also a traveller and had gone to europe and japan and even to america. He was even a friend and associate of the knowned scientist Rudolf Virchow. :(

mohanda used a nonviolence noncooperation scheme, and it worked, how could the british army kill all those indians when they were doing nothing wrong but merely just noncooperating, not to mention the fact that the british would be killing the peopl doing their dirty work. gandhi was a clever man in that if he never used violence but did not do what the british told him, the british looked like jerks to beat him or kill him, even fueling more the revolt against the british

I would like to correct ur example 1st, in our case nor we were sleeping neither we were unarmed when they came, a lot of warriors died to save this house n when they finally got into our house then Gandhi ask us just sit their like cowards n do nothing, i think thats the biggest disrespect to 1s who died ..I would answer ur question with refernce to History, those freedom fighter did make their own waepons and fought with the AK47s, Bhagat Singh was just 21 yrs old, that bring tears to my eyes.
