  • Great video! If you like this, you will probably like FUR, FORTUNE, AND EMPIRE: THE EPIC HISTORY OF THE FUR TRADE IN AMERICA (W. W. NORTON, JULY 2010). To see a book trailer for this book, search fur trade history on youtube.

  • This is great footage!! I remember watching this film in school as a kid. It was a part of our Minnesota history lessons in the 6th grade. That was in 73. We thought the film old then. Thank you for posting this. I still canoe the Boundry Waters in Minnesota. We go out for a week in the wilderness with nothing more than a tentage, a fart sacj, fishing rod and a couple rations of food. It is great fun except for the portages.

  • Video failed to play for me after 44 seconds.

  • @dragonheadthing same, i got to 0:44 and it stopped, whats the go with that.

  • yeah I made it to 47 secs, boo :(

  • @JAMxSkalla16

No thank you, history is very valuable. If you want to remain ignorant, then don't watch.

  • @memminger006 This short film tells the tale of the men who drove big freighter canoes into the wilderness in the days when the fur trade was Canada's biggest business. The film recreates scenes of the early 19th century with a soundtrack by an all-male chorus.

Is there something hard to understand?

  • my comment is for jamxskalla16.

    so stfu
