i may have accidently removed your post... i clicked remove instead of reply and then went to view all comments to see if it was still there... it wasnt but when i hit the back button, your post came back, it might just be in my cache tho... anyway =P... your very welcome =)
no... its still a waist of battery... resistors only lower the amount of power going to the led, because the led HAS to use power, it always drains a small amount... also, keeping in mind the battery in a wireless controller is only 3v MAX and some LEDs use 5v. the only way it wouldnt be a waist is if u disconnected one of the motors and used the led instead
ok first of all great job responding on a month old post and not shit the LED still needs power but the right resistor will give it the least amount of power for it to work. I KNOW LOOK AT MY VIDS i mod controllers
yep, just 5mm, and remember as soon as u got space for the led u can mess around with different led's, sizes and colours and such to see what looks best, i ended up using red just cause some of the other colours dont look quite as nice shining through the green of the button
it was a package of 15 - five volt leds, sorry bout that, confusing to read when read fast, as per where i got them, just at my local 'the Source', i was just kinda browsing and saw them and thought they might be useful
i like the way u think....would look better if i could get a different controller case though, like one for an elite that's black, or bought a different colour one off an online store...
a couple bucks for a little bag of 15 five volt LEDs and it was about 15 bucks for the tool i used to make room for the LED i put in, other than that, a pair of scissors (exacto knife or wire strippers also work), high temperature hot glue and a good glue gun
cotton509 you are the LARGEST failure on youtube, PLEASE PLEASE save me the trouble and just kill yourself! Fucking idiot, what, can't you use a screw driver!?!?
you hook a power line from a rumble and a resister in the positive line then to a 3 mm led with is clued with about 3 mm or crazy glue o ksimple exept for geting it open anyways nice job its sick just remove those light that are green or add a switch to them
close, but not quite, 3mm led was too small and looked funny so i used a 5mm led, there is also no resistor because the led i used is rated for up to 6v DC, no crazy glue ither, just a little hot glue works so long as u do it right, for the opening part, do u mean the controller(easy) or the creating of the hole in the jewel(hard)? thanks for the comments though, i actually thought about the switch too but havnt got round to it yet, like i said b4, i do have a tut if u wanna no exactly wat i did
Not to put u down or anything, but unless u've done something like this before & can say from experiance that its easy, I beg to differ & i guarantee most ppl who would try this would f*@# it up. Sure, hooking it up is easy, but fitting a 3mm LED into an original controller jewel without messing anything up AND having the controller sill look/feel(button presses & rumble) new (with no exterior extentions) is not 'easy' without professional tools, which very few people have. care to show ur mods?
thats pretty sweet man...i got to mod my xbox cuz i have that arcade one..lol..and the disc try is white and that cool chrome!!!that everyone else...i need to do somthing to hide it.lol
honestly not sure, i was lookin on the source's website and they have standard red led's listed at 1.5 mcd, i would assume thats what mine would be, although i bought mine in a package of 15 assorted sizes and colours of leds, not just a specific kind. if you are interested, i do have a tutorial i made while working on this project that i can send if you like
the one i made didnt break, the light was shorting from the spring i put inside, but i fixed it, and my centre button does go all the way down, its just slightly more difficult cause its a spring instead of a rubber thing, if it didnt go down all the way then it wouldnt turn on wen i push the centre button, but it does
the button now is as easy to press as it was before the mod because i took out the spring since the wires i used have softened up alot, u dont even notice theres anything different about it (untill it goes red :D ) anyway, unfortunately, one of the wires got disconnected and when i tried to fix it, i put the battery on wrong when testing and messed somethin up, the controller now only works with the play and charge kit attached, it wont take batterys anymore....
OMG STUFF AND JUNK IM TOTALLY GONNA HAVE YOU MAKE ME ONE!!! ..... even though the one you made broke... and the center button doesnt push down all the way... and i watched you make it....
thats pretty cool

Mine has two led's in it! Hey does your button feel tight afterwards. Mine still works fine, but has a smaller range of motion now
03pontiac 2 years ago
yea, i know mine is a bit tighter... i think mainly because of the wires going to the LEDs
Dennijr 2 years ago
That waste battery though
