  • the hairless rat is SOOO cute!!!

  • ~~~~~( 8 :> What a cutie! Thanks for this!

  • Thawed frozen peas? :3 So cute.

  • awwwwww

  • Rats love peas .... especially "petit pois"

  • My rats looooooooooooooooooooooooooooove cheerios like A LOT. And they like to steal my popcorn.

  • haha cute.. i caught myself watching them, totally amused, lol so into it.

  • Siamese rats r sooooooo cute!!!! I LOVE urs!!!!! I have a hooded rat :)

  • I have a question about diet. SO if I was feeding an adult rat Harlan Teklad 2014 (And it was a male rat) I should give them about 78 grams a day?

  • @horselover8408 The 2014 is an excellent diet for rats. I free feed mine. But if you want to control the "intake" I believe it's 55 grams a day or 3 blocks each rat.

  • @jorats OK because I have a friend and that's what she does. She has two rats and she puts all their daily food in one bowl and one of her rats eats ALL of the food. And the other doesn't get any. SO she asked me to find out what she should do! (she doesn't have a youtube account so she couldn't do it) Should she just feed them seperately or what?

  • @horselover8408 free feed means I fill up their bowls and I don't fill it back up unless it's all gone. But I also go find all the stashes in the cage and put the food back in the bowl. But, if your friend is worried that one rat is not getting her share of food which is very rare, she can separate the two a couple of times a day to make sure one eats.

  • @jorats Do you just fill it or do you put the certain amount of grams of food in the bowl multipled by how ever many rats you have to make sure they get enough?

  • @horselover8408 I just fill it up. But that's because I have quite a few rats in the cage. If I only had two or three, I'd probably put in there 3 blocks per rat.

  • @JoAndGypsy I see. Thanks!

  • @jorats so when you say "Free Feed" do you mean you just keep their bowl filled all the time? Because wouldn't you be concerned they'd over eat?

  • @Natsplat184 I use frozen peas but once they are in the water it starts to thaw pretty fast. I do run them under hot water first.

  • the one with black on his nose looks my rat houdini i will see him later y at my moms house i miss him ;)

  • aw how cute!!

  • oh, I remember doing this with my old rats. Such happy(amusing) times!

  • Video made me lol so hard! hahaha, gonna try to give mine some peas in water. That's quite a few rats!

  • My rats go crazy for peas too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Quick question... what kind of peas do you use? Do you buy them frozen and then just defrost them?

  • @TephraFalls Yes, frozen peas, run them under hot water then I place them in a dish of lukewarm water for the rats unless if it's very hot out, then I place in a dish of cold water, helps the rats cool off.

  • aww, Meeko is so cute!! :)

  • I only ever had two rats at any time :-( since my mum couldn't stand them, but one of them would always just jump in the water and trap peas against the bottom.

  • Oh cool, it wasn't just my rats who love this!

  • jorats send me a friend request i like your rats

  • insane ratssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!

  • So CUTE!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's like a heaven for them!

Your rats are so lucky to have such a sweet caretaker like you :)

  • 0:12 - "ooooooh! peas!!!!!!!!"

  • the black white one is cute ( 0:37 )

  • if these rats are all adopted as you say, how come none of them fight? did you have to take weeks to introduce them to each other?

  • @swirlypoo101 They are all rescues. I would rescue say a group of four, later rescue a group of two and intro them together. Takes about a week of intros each time.

  • adorable!

  • Pea fishing! Really need to do this again. LOL. And what's even better than a rat who eats both the inside, AND the outside? A rat who's too afraid to go in the water, but really really wants peas! Then you have clean-up duty all taken care of for you! :)

  • I love it. It amazes me how rats eat peas and leave the casing sitting there, even the first time they eat them like it is secret rat world trick.

  • That was great! Meeko, the hairless, thought it was a pea fishing contest. Who can eat the most peas in record time. LOL! and Gera, always the gentlerat, eating the pea skin as well. Sweet video!

  • @Nickelrat you caught that did you? Very observant... Gera was enjoying the skins too.

  • Adorable!

  • This is so cute!

My kids hate water too much to do this.

  • Another great video! I love how some of them completely ignore the peas and just want a long drink of water. :)

  • Is that cold water? The white'n with brown muzzle and around roots of tail is like Polar, my rat.

  • Lol, my rats hate pea fishing for some reason, they kinda hate water lol

  • PEA FISHING

  • LOVE it! This is so entertaining to watch. The shelter I volunteer at currently has two 10 month old albino sisters that I absoloutely adore. Aparently I'm the one who ends up caring for the rats the most, which is what I'm now famously known there for, haha. I'll have to try this with them!

  • It's always fun to watch your videos. Some day I'll have a rat room, too. :P

  • So cute ! I like it !

  • The one with no fur is scary hehe.

  • My boys love diving for corn ^.^ its fun to watch them ^^

  • what is the name of the song playing?

  • @baire702 It's a loop called Scratchin by Parners In Rhyme.

  • loop? your rattie babies sure are cuties!

  • @baire702 It's a short tune that repeats over and over.

  • @jorats Oh ok. your babies are such cutties. I know I said that already. I cannot have ratties now, so enjoy videos like yours.

    caryl

  • Oh what fat happy rats you have! ^^

  • Awesome ratties, I love the naked one.

  • It's almost like bobbing for apples for humans ;)

Loved the video! Can I ask how you added text at the beginning though? Thanks!

  • @trexgorawrrrrr I use Movie Maker and it's one of the features.

  • Great-looking colony!

  • AWWWWWW they are sooo cute!!! the black and white one looks like my rat, his name is malcom :)

  • aww, cute! I'm so glad you updated. I love seeing happy rats! :D

  • p.s. Cute music too! Looking forward to your next video already.

  • They all look adorable fishing for peas! I wish I had a room that I could devote to our two ratties... The little grey/black one looks like our little Ralphie : )

  • I remember how much my rats loved fishing for peas...classic rat fun. :) I love your videos Jo...always look forward to them. :) I can personally vouch, everyone, that Jo should probably win an award for being the greatest rat owner on Earth...she is absolutely amazing...her love, care and dedication to her rats are above and beyond...I always say, lucky are the rats who get to live at her house! :) :) Five stars!

  • the hairless rat has such a cute face

  • I have never actually had my rats pea fish but they used to like to eat the inside of the peas and leave the outer skin lol

  • I've heard that they will fish for pet fish too, which is why you don't want them to get access to your fish bowl.

  • @TheRatsmith Good tip!

  • @TheRatsmith yeah that makes sense considering one of my rats even ate a live beetle one time :/

  • @tanrat7 Hmm, makes me wonder if you could train rats to eliminate insects that get in the house.

  • @TheRatsmith yes Im sure, but I think you would have to let them roam free most of the time.

  • @TheRatsmith I fed a young praymantis of mine a little dubia cockroach. They were underneath a upside down plastic cotainer and on top of a plastic bin. I let my rat free roam in my room while I went and got some food. When I returned the praymantis was missing except for a few little green legs o_0

  • I like how some of them are just drinking the water. mmm pea water! Very cute! My hairless like to grab and run too.
