@roshiii87 Look up Mark Morton Dominion #1 its a really good excercise for alternate picking. also try and Learn The Breakdown to Vigilby Lamb of God. it Feels Like Triplets But Its actually 16th notes so it kinda tricks you into alternate picking

This riff is actually quite easy once you have it memorized. Just do fast alternates and your set. And im almost positive you played some of those parts wrong, because really those only 3 parts to it, and two are very similar just in different positions.

it sounds much smoother when you use alternate picking. and it's a lot easier on your picking hand. It just takes a little longer to coordinate the up-down-up down-motion with the right string.

down picking all of that is why he is slower... sticking to down picking makes alternating strings alot easier... Lamb of God clearly use alternate picking out the ass... they have to for some of the shit they play... shit, this guy would probably try Hourglass just straight down picking, alternate picking improves your playing ALOT

zakk wylde down picks EVERYTHING. except for machine gun riffs, of course. some teachers and players just believe that down picking is alot cleaner and an overall better technique. but its all about preferences dude. i personally think that sticking to down picking for thrash and death metal is a good idea cuz it'll clean up your sound. obviously the machine gun riffing is always gonna be alternate picking, but everything else can be done with downstrokes if you're commited.
