The irregular shaped thruster decreases output of traditional signature. Think about it. The first jet fighter had the technology and shape booster as your planes. Anyways, f117 that was shoot down over Bosnia in 1999 was shoot down by very old russian SAM's that were produced in the 1960's.... f117 used the same technology that is used in f22 (try to deflect radar waves with plane having angles, no curves) this technology both used in f22 and f117 is about 20 years outdated because both can be seen by modern radar....

Stealth technology is to expensive and its not good enough. it can just trick weak old radars not the NTOIS radar its a simple radar in triangle with nightvision to track the plane at night and fire with projectiles from tunguska or something like that. stealth technology are weak against ntois radars. @ITmage I second that. Technology are evolving at an astonishing rate and humans as combat pilots would be folly for the missiles will get more sophisticated than the former dogfights planes. Those were simple but now these are getting more complex so UAVs will be the future and their loss will only be economical. However, humans will still be combat fighters for another few decades for the AI still needs to be polished and there's quite a some way before they can do it on their own.
@SuperDave619 In classic combat aircraft pilot can sustain up to 12G but most of them up to 8-9....in UAV there is no pilot....so only on UAVs construction depends how well it will show in dogfight...but as we see in future BVR combat will be primary kind of aerial warfare...There is other thing...you cannot claim land before your forces clean it of enemy...so foot army/infrantry will exist in next 1000 years without any doubt...

Cnsider also that the F-15 of the 80s and say the F-15K or Silent Eagle are 2 very different aircraft. Consider also in a battle between 2 fast, nimble aircraft like the F-15 in the US arsenal today and the Su-35 in Russia that it wont so much come down to who can pull the tightest turn or who can fly the fastest (although they do have impact), But who has the best AESA radar and most capable weapons. BVR or beyond visual range is the deciding factor now. The U.S is ahead of everyone there.

The video says that 'owing to its paint' the plane will be invisible to radar. However the two vertical tailfins will make good radar reflectors, as will the engine intakes.
It's a nce looking plane (and the fully vectored thrust nozzles are VERY impressive) - but it's not 5th generation. Still, it would probably make mincemeat of the other '4.5' fighters like the Typhoon.

You have no idea about Warfare. The Russian aircraft radars are middle ranged and they don't need high ranged radars because its to expensive. The ground Radar plants will track and locate foreign planes and send information to each russian jet. Its simple, better and lot of cheaper kind to locate and classify foreign jets. And no against triangle set radar system with NTOIS, Stealth jets or bomber have no chance to sneak through Area. Stealth programms wasted money and time.
Hmm...I doubt their paint makes it 'invisible'. The us also uses a radar absorbant paint, but uses that in addition to physical structures. Phyisical structures tend to make up the majority of an aircrafts radar visibility....I've heard it being relatively 80%.
f35 is not a watered down f22. Its mission design and requirments are completly def. F35 is a stealth multi roll fighter ment to fill many needs. f22 is a stealth air superiority fighter. The PAK-FA looks like an F-22, a YF-23 AND An Su-37 had a threesome and gave birth to an atrociously-idiotic aircraft. They couldn't decide which airplane to copy, so they took 2/3 US 5th Generation design and 1/3 Russia 4th (or even 3rd) Generation design. Circular thrusters emit a larger discharge of frequency which can be intercepted by many different types of receiver and radars. The irregular shaped thruster decreases output of traditional signature. Think about it. The first jet fighter had the technology and shape booster as your planes. Note, F22 thrusters are not fixed but move around up and down

Anyways, f117 that was shoot down over Bosnia in 1999 was shoot down by very old russian SAM's that were produced in the 1960's.... f117 used the same technology that is used in f22 (try to deflect radar waves with plane having angles, no curves) this technology both used in f22 and f117 is about 20 years outdated because both can be seen by modern radar....

@ITmage I second that. Technology are evolving at an astonishing rate and humans as combat pilots would be folly for the missiles will get more sophisticated than the former dogfights planes. Those were simple but now these are getting more complex so UAVs will be the future and their loss will only be economical. However, humans will still be combat fighters for another few decades for the AI still needs to be polished and there's quite a some way before they can do it on their own.

America focuses on targeting and stealth, but that doesnt mean that US planes are the best, theres alot of factors which give planes like the PAK FA a huge upperhand.

@Antarktida1337 - I think tou mean PAK50/FA against UK's Typhoon. That would be closer to a proper dogfight. Don't forget, americans fly american aircraft and russians fly theirs. American and Russian pilots don't get anything anywhere near the training the UK pilots get.

Cnsider also that the F-15 of the 80s and say the F-15K or Silent Eagle are 2 very different aircraft. Consider also in a battle between 2 fast, nimble aircraft like the F-15 in the US arsenal today and the Su-35 in Russia that it wont so much come down to who can pull the tightest turn or who can fly the fastest (although they do have impact), But who has the best AESA radar and most capable weapons. BVR or beyond visual range is the deciding factor now. The U.S is ahead of everyone there.

The video says that 'owing to its paint' the plane will be invisible to radar. However the two vertical tailfins will make good radar reflectors, as will the engine intakes.
It's a nce looking plane (and the fully vectored thrust nozzles are VERY impressive) - but it's not 5th generation. Still, it would probably make mincemeat of the other '4.5' fighters like the Typhoon.

You have no idea about Warfare. The Russian aircraft radars are middle ranged and they don't need high ranged radars because its to expensive. The ground Radar plants will track and locate foreign planes and send information to each russian jet. Its simple, better and lot of cheaper kind to locate and classify foreign jets. And no against triangle set radar system with NTOIS, Stealth jets or bomber have no chance to sneak through Area. Stealth programms wasted money and time.

Good luck with it Radar Range in Triangle spectrum can locate planes from 200km at 8km hight.
All mounted Plants are very hard protected with Artellery, AA, PAK's, infantry, ballistic missles and other stuff.
A country in Defense is to hard to invade.

Hmm...I doubt their paint makes it 'invisible'. The us also uses a radar absorbant paint, but uses that in addition to physical structures. Phyisical structures tend to make up the majority of an aircrafts radar visibility....I've heard it being relatively 80%.
Just saying. (Not hating on Russia)

f35 is not a watered down f22. Its mission design and requirments are completly def. F35 is a stealth multi roll fighter ment to fill many needs. f22 is a stealth air superiority fighter. The f35 is def cheaper but calling it a water downed f22 is not right. Its like saying a f150 pick up truck is a water downed mustang cobra. And only an idiot would say the pak fa is better than f22 as the pak is only a prototype and nothing is known about it
