  • This was a most superior variety series ever made! truely a classic ABC-TV icon from

the 1960s. but more impressive, was the fact that United Artists Television also co-produced

this series,,and that Dick Tufeld was the voice announcer, while working as the voice of the

"Robot" on "LOST IN SPACE"-may he truely Rest in Peace! but down the road,it is hoped

that this series will be made availible on DVD,eventually. i know that ABC did a special in

    1993 on this show.

  • Meanwhile in Vietnam....

  • Do you have any of the Hollywood Palaces with Eddie Fisher and Connie Stevens?

  • One of the most beautiful women on a tv series of the time----Elizabeth, you are so sadly missed, but never gone from our minds and thoughts-- my condolences to your family and all loved ones -- we will see you in the next life-- with love and gratitude

  • These were the days when we had family oriented shows.

Unlike today's programmes which are almost identical looking

for new talents or rubbish sitcoms which have no values at all.

  • Liz, as always, is completely 'bewitching'.......a shame, really, that the same can't be said for her dress....... :-(

  • The cancellation of "The Hollywood Palace" marked the beginning of the end of all the television variety series, which went off the with in the '70s.

  • It wasn't uncommon for an A.B.C. star of a top rated series to guest host "The Hollywood Palace", and this is an excellent example.

  • Gad...whadda doll she was...

  • @screenjims2006 yooo evean if u dont meean it thanks i sorrey sayd u wasnt nocking her i dumb dippy not smart i soz thanks u koolllllllll

  • @screenjims2006 meeans go suck egg feregging numtey i koollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • man dis allmost 50 years old yet things do good us uk got tallent nuts i kool me bd ruffyy

  • @screenjims2006 No one could have said it better than you just did. I was 4 when the show came out, Sept 17,1964. Elizabeth Montgomery was my first crush as I got older. She never missed work in all 254 shows. I cannot believe she did not win an Emmy. Alice Peace did, the first one, but died of Cancer but kept working. Liz talks about her in an interview in she did in 1991. She left us way too soon, I remember I was in the car and the top of the hour on the news the bewitched song played.

  • This is great. Miss ya Liz.

  • Miss you Liz....

  • damn she's hot..........

  • Uh, I love her dress:)

  • This show was taped before a live studio audience at what use to be "The El Capitain TV Theater"..which was renamed"The Hollywood Palace TV Theater".

  • She was such a beauty.

  • 那时候要当个电视节目主持人太难了。

  • Was wearing a tuxedo required. Even the acrobats.

  • Thanks for my first Happy Thought Liz :)

  • awwww, i love elizabeth montgomery.

she was such an amazing actress!

  • Her father was the great Robert Montgomery so she has the fortune to grow up with one of the classiest performers of the era.

  • the thing at the start was really inspiring

  • nice to hear the theme's lyrics.

    i miss variety shows

ah! the baja marimba band, my dad had one of their albums, love that 60s music.

  • she was awsome had childhood crush on her.. :-)

  • those dancers,,o my

  • Those 3 Robertis were awesome!! Loved it. :))

  • But what year was this?

  • @lamtsite October 1966......

  • The unbelievably beautiful purebred all-american girl like Liz is becoming extinct folks. So very sad.

  • the FORGOTTEN REBELS played here

  • Haha I have never heard of the Three Robertes before this. They were awesome!

  • both performances were really good

  • did you ever notice that all the hosts on the Hollywood Palace were culled from shows on ABC?

  • @yomamakunt You should be ashamed to post something like this about her. Keep it clean or get off the site.

  • The opening segment where Liz dances is fantastic. God she was gorgeous!!!

  • These guys were as MEXICAN, as patrami & bagels ! "No MEXICANS ! "

  • 45 years since Bewitched first appeared, 15 years since she passed away and I STILL have a crush on her.

  • 3:44 now that is a handstand or shall i say "head stand" hahah

  • @yomamakunt Your discusing!

    R.I.P Elizabeth Montgomery.

  • I WANT A DVD of this episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Love it. Elizabeth looks terrific, you get to hear the vocal version of the theme and she's actually wearing a dress seen on the show Bewitched. Thanks for posting this. The quality is great.

  • A classy lady forever.

  • Wow! Back in the day when you could get away with making fun of Mexicans. Maybe the Baja Marimba Band should make a comeback in Arizona!

  • Boy...it amazes me how much audiences have changed in 44 years. A show like this would absolutely flop these days. What will shows be in another 44 years?

  • now this is true entertainment

  • It can't get any more cornball than this opening number. I don't know if I'm fascinated, or horrified!

  • @7855waldo, yeah a show like this doesn't hold up compared to the restraint, intelligence and class that today's sophisticated audiences have come to expect out of Wife Swap, The Surreal Life, Big Brother and Dancing with the Stars.

  • @WastedPo Good point, although I'm worried that people like yourself have taken the trouble to remember the names of these GarbageCanOramas.

Between unwatchable mawkish (referred to in previous post) and the horrible Wife Swap et al, that's my reason why I gave up watching TV about ten-fifteen years ago.

I think I got out just in time.

  • @WastedPo this is a joke right?

  • @marianaph17, I was being sarcastic in response to the people saying that this is "cornball." My point is, compared to what people today call trendy and cool, Hollywood Palace looks like footage from the Algonquin Round Table.

  • @WastedPo oh, well trendy and cool isn't right. In the 60's shows, music and just entertainment was much more better than it is today.

  • @marianaph17, I agree with you. In fact, I think it's safe to say that pretty much ANY decade since the inception of the "modern-day" audio/visual medium had more magic and integrity than what we've been calling entertainment over the last several years.

  • Wow, that opening number is something else - managing to incorporate all her conjuring schtick as well as the theme song with lyrics! Odd, but fun, and really the sort of thing that should have been included on one of the dvd sets, in my opinion.

  • I wonder if Elizabeth twinkled her nose, she could make the first Act disappear. They STINK. Females are more agile in acrobatics, and an all Male act sucks shit BIGTIME. The only thing men are good for in acrobatics is the Anchor ( the bottom of the ocean would be a good start, I suspect)

  • @starquant Yea so balancing someone on your head is easy. Lets see you do it dumbass.

  • @OrecksRule223 lol. You first!.

  • the clothes she wore on this show she wore on bewitched even the first dress she wore on her own show. She really was a class act and elegant.

  • 2:26 she didn't actually wiggle her nose

  • @kaseleh333 duh, she wiggled her upper lip.

  • Did they say, "You bitch".......LOL

  • Gee....I never knew there were lyrics to the Bewitched theme....you gotta love these variety shows...they just don't do them anymore....

  • She always seemed to me to be a very classy person

  • Such a talented beauty!

  • if you notice she wore this same dress in one of the episodes of bewitched when the queen of all witches and warlocks hepsibah came too evaluate her and darrin's marriage

  • I've heard Elizabeth was painfully shy. She was a great actress...always appeared cordial and vivacious.

  • I wondered many times if she suffered from social phobia as I do.

  • I have a comprehension of what you go through. As far as Elizabeth, I would have loved to have been friends with her. I was (am) 20 years younger and far removed from her social circle.

  • i was on tv when i was 5 and I was "shy" or phobic. Still don't know to this day, LOL

  • I was a disc jockey for more than 20 years. Radio is easier than television.

  • I am sure it is.......No camera people etc.

  • Didn't she wear this dress on an episode of Bewitched? Or at least one very, very similar? I swear I've seen tht on her before.

  • what an entrance! - she looks so much like Jane Fonda

  • Baja Marimba Band is playing Acapulco 1922.

  • KinnikuSuguru is absolutely correct. The opening number played by the Baja Marimba Band is "Acapulco 1922", which was also covered by Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass on their first album, "The Lonely Bull".

  • DentelTV2, thanks for the upload. Great to see EM taking a break from Bewitched. Did one of these shows ever not feature an acrobat act? FYI, the Baja Marimba Band doesn't start playing Portuguese Washerwoman until the end of the clip, on the fadeout. Their opening number was a familiar one - I just don't know the name. The audio was an improvement over the Washerwoman-only clip on YouTube (athough that effort was appreciated). It'd be nice to see some BMB clips generated from this source!

  • Great stuff! Elizabeth Montgomery as the hostess of Hiollywood Palace makes this video even more charming! The Three Robertes were incredible with their agile performances! The Baja Marimba Band brought back a lot of memories of when my Father used to listen to their records on his stereo! This is nostalgic entertainment at its BEST!! Thanks for posting this! I have to watch the rest of the show now...it's great!

  • these days of Television will never be seen again.

  • You are so right, lucy said that in a 1978 interview that TV had gone down the tubes and that was in 78. Lizzy Montgomery was one of the prettiest and classy women ever on TV. She was very kind outside her work. In 1969 this blind girl wrote her office and she and her family were going to be out there and could she meet Lizzy. Bill Asher gave the ok and the girl and her family went out to there house. On July 16th 69, Lizzy told her she go up early to watch the men leave for the moon that day.

  • TE AMO ELIZABET MONGOMERY eres mi adoracion!!!! MAMACITA!!!!!

  • what year is this? Late sixties?

  • Right track BNCA70-1966! The Sherman-Williams Company was the starter sponsor.

  • wow, the baja marimba band is really something :) nice beat

  • those 3 guys in tuxedos were amazing! absolutely wonderful!

  • I like that the Three Roberti can do all those stunts wearing real tuxedoes. If this were now, they'd be wearing that stupid spandex shit.

  • The weird bunny shuffle at 3:59 wasn't too great either. Guess that wasn't part of their original audition.

  • Wow Elizabeth Montgomery, The Baja Marimba Band, and Dick Tufeld-the voice of the Robot on Lost in Space-all on one show

  • Wow, she must've loved that dress...she wore it on an episode of Bewitched...I want to say in "Charlie Harper, Winner," from season 3, but I can't remember exactly...

  • Motown65 had it right...one of, if not, iconic TV's greatest beauties. Liz could've carried a variety show all her own. I'm struck by how down-to-earth and not glammy/snooty she remained out of her suburban Bewitched element. By many accounts I've read, seems she was quite a nice person.

  • She was also an active member of woman's rights and gay rights. She truly was an amazing woman. Her legacy will live on forever.

  • Elizabeth is just beautiful...thanks for such an amazing post.......truly lovely to watch !!!!!

  • The best thing about this episode is Liz Montgomery, probably the most beautiful women ever in television.

  • Liz was SO HOT....from the first time i saw her in a Twilight Zone - i was hooked. i caught her on a game of Password. watching her describe 'vibrator' without cracking up was priceless. this show however was TERRIBLE

  • i lovely elizabeth montgomery and you dress is beautifull , and perfect face and bewitching eyes !! i love love with all my life !!!!

  • I don't get the trick at 3:05-3:10.

I don't think the audience did either. He had to clap for himself.

  • wow, the 3 Roberti's!!! Only the 2nd time I've ever heard my last name on TV , the other was on Hart To Hart! ( Honey. why don't we dine at Roberti's ( restaurant) tonite!>? oK JOHNAHAN!

  • I looove Liz Montgomery!

  • @mattmorgzloz AGREEEEE

  • Comment removed

  • Those 3 Robertes do their stuff so effortlessly it's really amazing.

  • Elizabeth Montgomery looks stunning as usual, and what a beautiful voice she had.She Bewitched a whole nation with that beauty and charm, I am seeing these Hollywood Palaces for the first time, though I have been a fan for years of Elizabeth. Thank You for posting this and anything else on the great Elizabeth.

  • Wouldn't it be nice if Hollywood produced this kind of entertainment today instead of the bunch of no talent amatures they find on American Idol or the bunch of back stabbing whiners on Survivor?

  • I agree with shows like Survivor but American Idol? have you seen this season? it is very talented but i do agree back then was so much better!

  • This is an awesome find, I too think she is the best looking women in show biz.

She had a great pair of legs, and the prettiest hands.

  • A perfect face and magical eyes...Elizabeth Montgomery is still one of the most beautiful women to ever .

  • who was the 1st act? Did she say the 3 Roberti's ??

  • she was the best!!!..she had alot of class

  • she sure had a lot of class!

  • @paultinsel She really did.

  • The most beautiful woman who ever lived.

  • Liz is such a great actress

  • Lovely lady!

  • GORGOUS!!!!!

    Liz is such a beauty!

  • This was originally telecast on October 1, 1966, and was Liz's first attempt at hosting a variety show. I believe ABC asked her to appear on the "PALACE" to promote her series (which had recently begun color telecasts); she approached it as somewhat of a "lark", to attempt something different than just being "Samantha". Not many people [and viewers] knew she could be just as talented in a production number or comedy sketch as being a straight actress...Dick Tufeld is your announcer.

  • Thanks for the backstory, fromthesidelines. We should get together for coffee and discuss classic American culture.

  • Five stars for just the Baja Marimba Band alone.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Just Beautiful!

  • You have an amazing collection. Thank you very much!

  • Liz, is a class act! She was clearly before her time. It was a huge mistake for the network to have Nicoll Kidman to portray her version of Samantha[bewitched]. Liz, will always be a legend! Tinka, Tinka, Tink!

  • I don't think it was a mistake casting nicole as samantha but the movie was a mistake
