I often wonder about individuals who have harsh opinions about France and her military, "The ignorance is so plain to see" In my humble opinion; There are many tens of thousands of U.S. military personnel and American citizens that are very passionate about our friendship and relationship with our French allies. I served beside them in combat, they are true fighters. The Marines in my company thoroughly enjoyed operating beside them.
I had the honor to served with and beside French Marines, FFL, & French Army Infantry during combat operations in the middle east and south west asia. Never was I disappointed with their professionalism and warrior spirit. I would not hesitate to serve beside my French comrades again. The same for my friends serving in the British, Canadian, Australian, and Dutch military...your all excellent Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors. I served with them all, what a fantastic honor.

Very few wars were as decisive as World War II and World War I, and while the U.S. might have lost 1v1 , the Soviets (who were the true victors) would have beaten HItler anyway.

On y est encore très présent avec beaucoup d'infrastructures et de personnels mais il y a une base américaine qui s'y est installé en 2002 suite aux évènements terroristes qui ont frappés les USA peu avant. Cette base américaine cotoie donc la notre afin qu'ils puissent eux aussi controler le golf d'Aden et le detroit de Bab-El-Mandeb.
A noter la présence plus minime de militaires allemands et japonais.

From what I've heard, it might be about money, so our troops don't use last generation of equipment, they have to use older equipment, plus i think this French force is a peace keeping force, so they won't use as much material as the Marine corps which is more a fighting force.
well its the marine commandos (well, the title of the film is), so some newer equipment would make sense. on the other hand, ive seen vids with em using much newer stuff..

You're wrong. They successfully blew up the Greenpeace's "Rainbow Warrior" ship. And they were not "special forces". For the moment, French navy commandos are pretty efficient in curbing piracy in the Indian ocean and in the Mediterranean.

To begin with, the US tested their first A-bombs in the desert, often inviting neighbouring populations to watch the show (hence, 1,000s of cancers); and their H bomb on a beautiful coral reef (Bikini). Plus, when the French and British people were defeated in France and surrounded at Dunkerque, guess what happened? Well most of the French Army sacrificed herself, holding long enough for the English to get away in their ships (with a few french with them)

When Japan attack it was during peace talks so they didn't think they'd need to increase defenses at their naval bases.

@miamoto15 Djibouti était français jusqu'en 77. On y est encore très présent avec beaucoup d'infrastructures et de personnels mais il y a une base américaine qui s'y est installé en 2002 suite aux évènements terroristes qui ont frappés les USA peu avant. Cette base américaine cotoie donc la notre afin qu'ils puissent eux aussi controler le golf d'Aden et le detroit de Bab-El-Mandeb.
A noter la présence plus minime de militaires allemands et japonais.

how come not all of em were using the Famas and some of the equipment like the camo, webbing, helmet, etc look a bit backwards. is there any signs of new stuff comparable to the british PECOC (NOT the Félin).

From what I've heard, it might be about money, so our troops don't use last generation of equipment, they have to use older equipment, plus i think this French force is a peace keeping force, so they won't use as much material as the Marine corps which is more a fighting force.
I could be wrong though.

the french special forces couldn't even successfully blow up a green peace ship lol, they sent their commandos into Auckland harbour in New Zealand & throughout the whole mission ppl saw them, landing on the shore, walking across the harbour, entering the boat. when secretcy was very important they kept fucking it up lol they ended up serving a prison sentence, cause they killed a guy on the boat. bunch of wankers they all r.

no it was when the frogs were testing nukes in Tahiti, GreenPeace based their fleet in Auckland while protesting in the french military zone at Numra Atoll, the frogs were blowing up a civilian boat so it was illegal so stealth was very important, just nobody taught the frogs about stealth lol, 2 fisherman on the rocks saw them land on shore, a guy walking his dog saw them prep their explosives & a dock worker saw them enter the boat, what a joke they got caught every part of their mission lol

You're wrong. They successfully blew up the Greenpeace's "Rainbow Warrior" ship. And they were not "special forces". For the moment, French navy commandos are pretty efficient in curbing piracy in the Indian ocean and in the Mediterranean.

And they were caught on every part of their mission. it wasn't a hard objective, blow up a civilian ship which had no defence, no watch men ..nothing any body cld do it, but to do it & not get caught well it's clear the french r just not up to this task.

You obviously ignore the history of nuclear bomb testing. To begin with, the US tested their first A-bombs in the desert, often inviting neighbouring populations to watch the show (hence, 1,000s of cancers); and their H bomb on a beautiful coral reef (Bikini). As for Russia, the communists really poisoned part of their population with nuclear tests. The French did their tests in the Sahara until 1967, and underground since the late 1970s.

Yes we lost in WW2, still many French kept fighting, some french pilot joined the RAF during the Battle of Britain, and another group of free French saved the Brits army at Gazala by holding the position of Bir hakeim during 2weeks, earning enough time for the British to retreat and then win at El alamein.

Even though France was defeated, the Free French kept fighting alongside the Allies!
Even when the US troops massively bombed French civilian by using the "reckon by fire" technique, the French didn't protest and kept fighting with them.

Or they would have placed more Anti Air at Pearl Harbor so they could destroy a lot of Japanese planes.

The U.S. also bombed their own troops it's called friendly fire, remember it's a war, & people make unfortunate mistakes. Maybe they didn't have time on their side, thought there were Nazi troop movements in that area in had to deploy an air strike immediatley because next day they cld be gone, because this happens in war. When Japan attack it was during peace talks so they didn't think they'd need to increase defenses at their naval bases.

American civil war : 1775-1783.
French troops arrived in 1780, (it took time to prepare the army, the ships and to travel) with seasonned soldiers, and ships; but already supplied them before
Before they were helped, the US troops were poorly equipped, outnumbered and had no real navy.
French's help and experience was decisive in Yorktown battle, and that's only one example.

All the people I met, except a few assholes, are friendly with foreigners. Again, why do you think France is the 1st touristic destination? If you were right, nobody would come, because the fact would spread. Be logic ok?
