i know this is an old vid, but you know there are apps out there which replace the functions you were missing. my fave is Better Touch Tool. you can add various gestures including middle-click, and various taps and swipes.

the magic mouse is actually pretty nice compared to other mice. However, I recently got a macbook pro with the magic mouse, since I have never liked trackpads in the past, but I find the trackpad on the macbook much nicer than the magic mouse, especially for scrolling and shortcuts. I believe Apple could make a usb or bluetooth trackpad for the Mac with the same shortcut features as on the macbook, and they would have a really winning interface.
Good review. But after 5 min I fell asleep. I woke up you were still talking. I was sold on the Logitech Marathon Mouse. Now I want this. man I am confused.
Update: On account of this excellent review, I bought the Magic Mouse. Wonderful. It works well. I found it too slow at first. Then I installed MagicPref. Now the mouse is perfect. Got pinch zoom too. I am a happy man. Thanks.

In order for your fingers to have the mobility required to use the touch gestures the mouse needs to be flat as it is. If it had a larger profile as you suggest it would be impossible to use touch gestures.
