Sorry to say you are a little wrong micirv20, Mr Rhee come over here, after the RAF brought it over. I will never forget Mr Rhee come to take our grading ( this is back in the 70s) and he had a blak eye. every one wanted to know how this happen. We were later told ,his little sone give it to him while he was teaching him in the garden. Our Instructor Bert Was from the RAF and later wrote a book with Master J. Rhee.
i was a member of the ukta under Master rhee,my instructor was tomas Zuza, always looked forward to my gradings as master rhee used to take them in derby, very informative and a great man, respect is due.
Karate? Grandmaster Rhee introduced Taekwon-Do to great Britain. My old master was one of his first 12 black belts. They called themselves the '12 disciples'. Apparently sparring was a lot more vicious back then; if you tried to axe kick a Korean he would probably grab your balls mid-kick. Also you had to break a brick for your blue belt.
Hmnn. I wonder how many electric toasters I could power with a board break. That's one method of measuring force I haven't thought of..which is strange because I really like toast.
Cos the bloke has hands like hammers, and knows the theory of power backwards! A lifetime of practice and being the first ever IX Dan tkd grandmaster can't hurt either!
he is not a karate expert he is a taekwondo grand master

Yeah grading has gotten a lot easier and sparring has gotten a lot less "intense" shall we say :P
I was at a seminar recently and Master Cutler kept showing off and then saying "Don't tell Grandmaster Rhee! He'll take away my Dans!" it was class :D
