It took me all of 1 week to do the double bass patterns that he commonly uses in many songs, and slamming the toms in 16th note fashion like he does isn't exactly a drum solo. First of all anybody can pick up a pair of sticks and slam their drums like this fool does. It took me all of 1 week to do the double bass patterns that he commonly uses in many songs, and slamming the toms in 16th note fashion like he does isn't exactly a drum solo. His technique-non-existant. Need I say more?

The Maelstorm Mephisto by Dimmu Borgir, the slipknot drummer, nick barker and all metal drummers are just speed and no technique, they don´t put any imagination into their songs and constantly repeat the same notes over and over again, anyone can play their drum solos, even i can play them just by hearing them once, travis barker solos have way more technique, it takes me a while before playing a solo of him, any real drummer know he´s better

Being a showman is half of being a band musician, session musicians are the ones obsessed with playing in complex rhythms and time sigs, what travis does is fun and sounds big, he is energetic and plays some cool beats, hes not out of time, and thats what you want from a band drummer. if you are that obsessed to call him rubbish just go listen to dream theatre and be happy, stop rippin on travis im sure he could hold down a lot more complex beats!

Listen to Travis's old stuff - He had a huge inlfuence on modern drumming especial in the old-school Blink-182 days. Just listen to the drums on any track off the "Take of Your Pants and Jacket" album.

he may not be the best drummer, but c'mon he is very entertaining to watch. He can portray emotion that is an ability that most drummers lose when there playing starts becoming too technical. I guess it really comes down to what your looking for in music: what IS great or what makes YOU feel great. Personally, I think a huge part of music is entertainment, but that's not to say that you don't need skills to play music. However, The jonas brothers have disproved this statement : (
