I've taken your advise an i think i will be going for a non resonated system for my 306 1.9 dt, however a cat isn't required to pass an english mot on my car, and from what I understand a cat can quieten the exhaust note down to a degree,
as i won't have a cat in my exhaust, do you think this will need to be taken into account or is it not enough noise to be noticeable?
@wetuber i guess you've never heard a 330d with an aftermarket exhaust on it then....lol...look some up on here and you'll be surprised by the noise also have a look at what miltek did to the a5 3.0tdi as well
@jarrus464 330d with a straight through exhaust is insane to listen to and that 6cyl noise on tick over re-mapped to 246bhp makes it a very very quick car 0-60 5.9
@jarrus464 the most fun i ever had was a golf 1.9 tdi with a boy racer behind the wheel going to overtake me @ 60mph i was in 4th gear and whenever he pulled out to overtake i floored it upto 90mph bye bye golf lol and a seat toledo followed me on a straight to over 120mph great fun to drive cars :) and i'v watched that video of the a5 3.0 tdi before just incredible tbh for a diesel
You're damaging your engine by overfuelling it - that's why you are getting the black smoke. If you have a tuning box put it in the bin because it's raising the fuel line pressure far too much. It gives false trip computer readings and damages the EGR, injectors and wears the fuel pump out because it's pushing the engine wy above maximum tolerances. That's why tuning box companies REFUSE to give an engine warranty.
It probably has no tuning devices on it other than that exhaust, remapped astras or even ones with tuning boxes smoke way more than that, I say it's a little more smokey due to the fact that the particulate filter being removed, which is for the better :) yes it means a bot more smoke but it does mean reduced maintenance costs
It looks like it has a cheap tuning box on it. It's burning too much diesel - so the fuel line, injectors and EGR will be buggered in a few months. Very nice exhaust though!
what you say is very true, the CHEAP ones are a useless waste of time and they damage your car, yes, but a high quality peice of kit can do wonders for your vehicle, the car in this clip HAS a cheap kit, like u say all the black smoke, the right kit will not produce ANY black smoke at all, believe me i work for tunit, i fit them all the time and have had one on my Vectra cdti sri for 5 years now with no problems and NO black smoke PPL STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP DEISEL TUNING CHIPS PLZ!!!!
It's non-resonated as we recommend that configuration for diesels. Whereas on petrol cars non-resonated can be reasonably loud (although never intrusive), diesels are very quiet and to get a decent sound from them we recommend non-resonated.

Unfortunately not. It was loaned to us for exhaust development and we only really had time to do this one before we had to return it to its owner.
