  • name of the song bopsesh? this is a squad

  • I want roygbiv variants!

  • Do offspring fluoresce, or just the parents?

  • creepily cool

  • mudkipz

  • Does the blacklight damage their retinas at all ?

  • @jest3r00 I don't leave it on for very long. Only to show them off to friends. So if the black light would hurt their eyes I don't think its been enough exposure.

  • again the axolotls are sooooooooo cute

  • i love your axolotl vidios iv got a axolotl to any way how are they glow in the dark???? thats so funny

  • @bellabunny222 They don't exist naturally so the chance of yours being a GFP is about zero. However, try hitting it with a blacklight.

  • these things r awesome i just got one

  • MUDKIP!

  • Hmm, logic tells me this could just be a filter in aftereffects, but if it is real, it's very cute, and i like it heehee.

  • It is real. You can some times source these as pets - the trait is passed on to off spring.

  • I truly hope u don't mean one can buy genetically modified axolotls as pets, couse that's kinda illegal..

  • In Australia I don't think so... check out the Caudata forum. Apparently they've sold there in the past and there have never been issues. The modified axies are fertile - and the trait is passed on to the off spring so it's not like they all came from test tubes. It just means they're all from a very limited gene pool - though depending on the dominant/passive-ness of the trait (I'm not into bio so much so I don't know a whole lot) you could mix them with 'normal' axies and still get GFP axies.

  • Yeah I know how genetic modification works, but the off spring of a transgenic axolotl is transgenic too. So it doesn't really matter whether the animal itself came from a test tube or not.

In Europe we have very strict laws considering GMO (genitically modified Organisms). It's illegal keep or sell transgenic animals as pets.

So it kinda depends on where you live xD

  • That would be interesting to see if the sales were under the table. Although I do understand why it would be illegal since it can pass off this trait to off spring (meaning it can reproduce and spread this gene into the wild populations). It's hard to determine what the effects of this gene on the expression of other genes is... so who knows what kind of effects this gene could have if this Axolotl got out and "got lucky"

  • @Adhemar05 Its not illegal.

  • @dchillweblinc totally not illegal and nice xoltizzz :3

  • this is the geico gecko's 2nd fav vid right now

  • SCIENCE!

  • glowing fluorescent protein . this Ax was biologically engineered ? there's no glowing Ax b4 ..

  • Yeah, he's a geneticly modified Axxy.

Kinda more cute in a way though :P

  • Who needs lightbulbs when you have a "geneticly modified,glow-in-the-dark pet" in your aquarium....

  • They're using a black light bulb to get them to glow, you dummy.

  • awesome vid..btw what songis this?

  • yeah :P

  • they are like lizards

  • i heard you like mudkips!

  • FAIL!

it's 'so i herd you liek mudkipz'

  • No man don't swing that way.

  • wat

  • that is so fuckin cool

  • song???

  • new soul by yael naim

  • new soul yael naim.

  • I stared at an axolotl in bio lab for a few minutes, it looked so cute, as if it was smiling. It won the staring contest, it didn't even budge. I wish I could stare at a GFP axolotl D:

  • they don't have eyelids

  • i want an axolotl so bad now they just so cute

  • They'r so cute!!! ^^ =D

  • They're the cutest little guys ever!

  • looks so cute!!! :3

  • Are you by chance selling any eggs, larva, or juvenile GFPs?

  • Nope. Sorry.

  • Comment removed

  • GFP took biosciences on a new level. never bevore we could actually see cell structures in living cells so good - especially mictrotubules and actin filaments

this here is kind of fundamental research, so come on give it a break

besides, the axolotl looks happy to me

  • i don't acept de bio-shit

  • That's not bioengineered. Some Axos, particularly the partially white ones, just glow under a black light.

It's pretty cool, actually. There are some scorpions that do the same thing, naturally.

  • You're an idiot. Try looking up GFP on Wikipedia.

  • @PhendraV It looks like Green Fluorescent Protein to me. Maybe you should learn what bioengineering is before you comment on it.

  • I WANT ONE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!!! too bad my mom says no more pets ever..... we only have one dog too

  • cooool

  • are this genmanipulated ???

  • hei where can i get one??

  • can anybody tell me what is the title of the song in this video?really appreciate it.

  • new soul by Yael Naim

  • thanks..=))

  • does it do any harm to them?

  • nope, nothing at all. they just glow under a black light :)

  • Ha! The only thing cuter than an axolotl is a glowing green axolotl! Too bad I'm downsizing, or I'd definitely get one. I've got 20 babies to get rid of as it is! Maybe next year...

  • Hi I have axolotl too.XD

I like the naturals most no gen change glow FuckXD like humphrey lotl. I think that the human should stop playing "God"

  • Stop the nonsense. Organisms are nothing but very complex machines. We should be able to do as we please.

  • I totaly agree, we should start grabbing kids from streets to use in biological experiments. after all, we should be able to do as we please....

    *Facepalm*

  • LOL

  • Wow thats amazing

    Blow away cool

Oh and where can i get one?

  • How totally cute!

  • Wow, they are awesome.

  • Sometimes i get naked, lather myself up in dishwashing liquid, turn on a black light, crawl around on my floor and it looks a lot like this.

  • What's next? Glow-in-the-dark humans?

  • If only.

  • What's next? Glow in the dark humans?
